Default Ebay buyer scam?

Hi fellow members,

I recently sold a movie on Ebay on Nov. 2. They buyer paid on Nov. 6. I mailed the movie out three working days later on Tuesday, Nov. 12 because Monday was a holiday. Now the buyer opened a case against me because they haven't received the dvd yet. I think this is a highly unreasonable time frame to open a case against me but maybe the buyer is justified in opening a case? I would like know if anyone has been in this situation and what can I do about it. I have a perfect rating of over a hundred transactions. Thanks.

What does your tracking # say when you put it onto the USPS website?

There is nothing you can do then. You will lose the case and the buyer will be refunded. There's a good chance the buyer received the package but saw you didn't put tracking on it and decided to take advantage of you. Sure it could be lost but it is hard to say. I think PayPal/eBay will wait before deciding and give the movie some more time to arrive.

Did you put insurance on it?

i have lost count on how many times i've read stories like this regarding ebay and buyers who claim they never got the package.

i've said it before and i'll say it again...i hope i never have to sell anything on ebay. buy? yes. but sell? not if i can help it at all. there are too many sorry-ass people out there who live on ebay and probably brag about how much stuff they've gotten for free. and all because they made a case saying they never got what they paid for then subsequently got their money refunded by ebay. all the while they're sitting there with the item in hand and their money back in their account.

it seems as ebay (among other sites) has created the lazy thief. they can get away with stealing (and let's be honest, that's really what it is; that and fraud) without ever leaving their house. and sometimes without ever leaving their chair.

i'd love to find everyone who's done something like that and go all jay and silent bob strike back style on their collective asses.

Unfortunately the replies have been spot on.
I am actually in the same situation myself with almost 300 transactions and now someone claiming their Blu-ray never arrived.

As I mentioned on another thread,I understand post does sometimes get lost but I have purchased in the region of 2000 items online from as far away as The States,Hong Kong and Brazil and everyone of my items has arrived so it does make me suspicious.

Ebay's policy where "you will get your money back no matter what" has indeed encouraged more and more untruthful buyers so I for one will certainly never sell on it again either.

eBay will favour on his side and you will have to issue a refund, the first question my "buyer" asked me was "can I have a racing number as my Blu-ray hadn't arrived"

Of course I had to tell him I didn't have one(which I'm sure brought a smile to his face)he won the item for £3,it makes no sense to pay the extra.

He has since left me negative feedback because the item never arrived,I mean that is not my fault when it was posted....I was gonna try and get it removed but ya know what?I don't care anymore as it makes no difference if I am no longer gonna sell.

My buyer closed the case. I guess he got the DVD today. But it leaves me wondering how do people expect to receive a package 100 miles + across the country in 2 days through first class mail? I always though a reasonable time was 3-5 days.

People are impatient. Plain and simple. I see a lot of complaining on this forum about how slow shipping is. A lot of times, they often choose a free shipping option. As far as I'm concerned, if you're getting your item shipped for free, you have no reason to complain how long it takes. You want it faster? You pay for expedited shipping!

I charged $2.00 for shipping first class so it was my belief that my price was fair and I shipped within 3 working days. And yes, I have read about people complaining on here about wanting 24 hour communication and next day shipping. As myself, many of us are individuals and not corporations, and therefore, it would be impossible to compete with the shipping standards Amazon and the likes provide.
