Default Cambridge Audio AZUR 540R V2 Help Needed

Hi everybody,

I am new to the HT set up. I am thinking about getting this reciever that comes with Gale speakers. Is this a good option for a small-medium size room. It costs $849 with speakers (Canadian). I have a sony bdps550, xbox elite and sony 46 xbr4. I have 3 hdmi connections, but this reciever does not have any hdmi connections.

Should I get this cause the reciever is good or go for a receiver with hdmi inputs?

Johnny

Since you have the Sony S550 and this reciever has analog inputs there is no issue in terms of not being able to play some codecs. That being said it is an older receiver and the power is fairly low (80wpc i think). If the room is on the small side the power shouldn't be an issue. Since it's older you won't get some of the function of some newer receivers, but most of that is fluff anyway. I have no experience with Cambridge Audio so I can't comment on their sound characteristics or quality of product.

If it's anything like the 640R it will sound fabulous. I like the fact that Cambridge put most of their energy into the sound, instead of having tons of functions..I'd get the 640R as my 'serious, no holds bare receiver.'
