Default First movie purchase?

Clearly this is going to be based on individual opinions, but I'm wondering what you might suggest for my first 2-3 blu ray movies? Looking for something that will help make it clear to my wife that this was a good idea. Good special effects, but not complete action/sci-fi (not my wife's first choice for movie night).

Off the top of my head I was thinking Casino Royale and possibly Batman Begins. TDK would be nice too, but I'd rather not pay the premium price (and we just rented it a week ago).

Thanks!

The Pirates of the Caribbean movies have excellent Picture Quality. That might be a good place to start a collection. They aren't Sci-Fi movies, and while there is a lot of action, there's a lot of other things going on that your wife may enjoy. This might be a good place to start.

Since this is to impress your wife I would suggest "Mamma Mia" or "Sex and the City"

Another suggestion would be "The Holiday"

My first BD even before I owned the PS3 was Planet Earth. The PQ is amazing and it is very interesting.

I got the BBC version. Its a tad bit more expensive then other BDs but totally worth every penny.

Iron Man, Wall-E, or Sin City (only available in Canada but it'll work on US players since its region free.) All have AWESOME PQ, especially Sin City. That shit looked absolutely gorgeous. I thought Wall-E was the apex of PQ for BD, but Sin City snatched the crown right off its head.

If that is how you would like to word it, then OK. Lol...

First choice, Planet Earth, Ratatouille, Any Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Transformers, The Dark Knight, Cars, basically any Pixar/Disney movie is a safe bet, providing you like those types of movies of course

you are already off on the wrong track immediately. You do realize what you just said right?........Batman Begins?,Casino royale?

Sometimes you have to spend a little more to prove to the wife your investment was valid........

Personally I would buy these.....

The Wild (animated)
The Dark Knight

both are georgeous on Blu-ray. You do have a 1080p T.V. right?

MAJOR HINT: Show her the Wild FIRST!

An excellent choice Casino Royale should be first. I also recommend Apocalypto.
