From dvdcompare.net (on the region 1 DVD that is identical to the region A Blu-ray):

Avoid the R1. Although it has additional extras slightly different to the R4, the image has been opened up to 1.90:1 and deleted scenes are presented separately on the disc and have not been re-edited into the film like the R2 and R4 releases (and also lacks the Christian Slater scenes completely).

Number 2 and 3 are out in the UK and there's an early 2009 rumor for the first one, so I would wait for this.
