Default My Watchmen Themed 'Toy'

Ever since seeing The Comedian's twin 1911's, I knew I had to have something similar. Well, today I spent the afternoon with a drill press, router bits and a Dremel. Here's the finished work:

Very awesome! My only suggestion would be to just have plain smiley badges, would make it a little more authentic.

Love that pic. Especially Snoopy's strategically placed hat.

And Ric, what would you charge to make me a set of those?

Actually, Rob, I'd make you a set for cost, if you really wanted. The grips were off eBay for ~$25 and the buttons were only a couple bucks each. You can probably make them yourself quite easily. If I remember correctly, you build cabinets, right? I assume you've got access to a drill press, router bits and a dremel, don't you? PM me if you'd really like some, and we'll work something out. They didn't take long to make, and it would have been even faster if I had the right size (1.25") router bit.

BTW, to add to my earlier post; I was thinking today of doing a custom insert like that (with a more personal, less "already done" thing) in the Sig Aluminum grips I have...

How did you get them to stick in the grip? I was thinking gorilla glue, but that could ruin some expensive grips quickly if you even miss a tiny bit. My second thought was creating a lip to hold it in...

Anyway, the couple hours since I posted got my mind going on the idea again...

I just used a general purpose glue that was rated for plastic and metal. I thought about the goilla glue type of glue, but that stuff expands significantly and always oozes out when you use it. After I glued the buttons in, I realized I probably should have used 2-part epoxy. If they ever fall out, I'll use epoxy to re-set them.
