ps3 and streaming music

I there a way to listen to music from your laptop wirelessly through your ps3 while keeping the tv off the entire time, or do you originaly need the tv on to get the ps3 to the right settings. Just curious, from a conveince factor.

Well, if you know what to click with your remote to get to the music media server then you don't need a TV. But no I don't think there's any "Music server autostart" feature or anything.

I would always turn on my tv just to get the music going, then I'd turn it off right away. But i believe everytime you turn on the PS3, it starts in the Game section of the XMB. so in that case, you'd go left twice, and the "Search for Media Servers" is the first one so you'd press X, then I don't know from there.
I always played from a playlist on my HDD.

Is there by any chance a program that I can run on my computer and if I change a song on the computer then the ps3 would play that song?

just use WMP,
i have all my CDs ripped on a desktop in a another room in the house in a lossy format, and i listen to them from my PS3 and out the fantastic speakers it's connected to.

Is it really that inconvenient to turn the TV on? If you press the TV power button before you turn on the PS3, there is more than enough time for the TV to actually be fully functional by the time the PS3 is fully booted. And then just turn the TV off once you get the music playing. If you know the controls on the PS3 controller, just keep it nearby you at all times and you can change songs accordingly.

This is exactly what I do when I'm in the kitchen making dinner (25 - 30 feet away from my HT setup). I have the PS3 controller on the counter and just need to press one button to skip songs. This is way easier than carrying a laptop with me everywhere I go in the house just to be able to switch songs.

You could buy a PSP and use Remote Play.

i normally have my TV off, what i do is setup playlists prior to hitting PLAY

either that or oyu can control it with the very same DS3 controller by skipping tracks w/ R1.

you're TV does not need to be on.
