Default PS3-camera name revealed?

I was browsing through the content on ps3.uk.playstation.com with my PS3 when I came across this:

http://uk.playstation.com/games-medi...0977/SingStar/

Quote:
- My SingStar online community allows users to upload and share audio feedback, Eye3™ Camera performances, Eye3™ Camera Snapshots and Scores
So, goodbye EyeToy, hello Eye3?

Also there:

Quote:
Cross format compatability: PS3-PSP
So, a few unannounced little tid-bits there.

I believe this is the HD webcam. Why HD? So that when you upload your SingStar video, you'll be in full 720p glory.

Does anyone have a link where Sony says what the resolution will be? I hadn't heard what the exact specs are. The 720p at that link is in reference to the game details..but that isn't necessarily the same thing as the eyetoy resolution.

I was being gentle when I mentioned 720p. But if you're ready for your close-up at 1080p without the make-up AND bad lighting, not to mention everybody will see your mess of a living room in full HD detail, go right ahead.

yeah.. im sure brad pitt and cameron diaz arent so happy about HD either.

Im phyched for the new eyetoy. If Sony supports this well, it could be bigger and better then the wiimote. They need to set this up in kiosks like what happened with guitar hero, so people understand what its all about.

FUTURE PATENT AND TRADEMARK ALERT. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Instead of just a 1080p resolution, there could be an infra-red webcam. Using gloves sewn with 3M's ScotchLite, the webcam can capture your performance. Using one SPE to decode the video capture and figure out which is left hand and which is right using different colors of ScotchLite, a Guitar Hero like game (or any video capture game) can be developed.

No batteries required. No flying Wiimote. But you're still have to be careful where you swing your hands.

That's the beauty of the Cell ..it will certainly be possible to use chips with lower SPU counts - because some of the SPU's failed during mfg. As long as the main PPC was ok they get to re-use those cheaper chips in other devices - very little mfg waste = much lower costs.
If not now then in the future for sure.

They are certainly using motion capture in a in developing games..question is will a consumer level version as you describe appear out of the gate..

SCEE announced some more SingStar details today

Full story on IGN.

Quote:
As you would expect, players will be able to create their own playlists for the game to suit any mood or group of friends. Only want 80s synth pop? You can do it. That's only the beginning for the game's customisation too - you can change skins, backgrounds and voice effects, not to mention use the Media Gallery to save your photos, video and audio, which can then be uploaded for friends around the world to check out via 'My SingStar Online'. The online experience will very much be based around community - not only will players be able to share their own content with other users, but they'll be able to create their own profile, link to friends and other users, vote in polls, and browse and rate videos.

Sony also confirmed that the PS2 SingStar mics are compatible with SingStar on PS3, and that new wireless mics are on the way
