Takashi Miike's Over Your Dead Body (Kuime) (2014) will be released on Blu-ray by Shout! Factory on October 6th.

A star, Miyuki Goto (Ko Shibasaki) plays Oiwa, the protagonist in a new play based on the ghost story Yotsuya Kaidan. She pulls some strings to get her lover, Kosuke Hasegawa (Ebizo Ichikawa) cast in the play, even though he's a relatively unknown actor. Other performers Rio Asahina (Miho Nakanishi) and Jun Suzuki (Hideaki Ito) lust after Miyuki. Off stage the cast's possessive love and obsessions exist as reality. Trapped between the play and reality, the cast's feelings for each other are amplified. When it becomes clear that love is not meant to be both on and off stage, love turns into a grudge and crosses the blurred line between reality and fantasy.

Well, it looks like a Takashi Miike film. Unfortunately, I lost my interest in his movies after One Missed Call and Izo. Though I'm sure he's probably made some other pretty good films since. May check this one out just because it's Takashi Miike making another horror film. I love Audition and Gozu.

13 Assassins and the Hara-Kiri remake were really good.

Yep, both solid films. I haven't seen any recent horror films from Miike, but this one looks really good, and the premise sounds great.

Is there any reason this isn't being released as a Scream Factory release? It's a ghost story, and since it's Takashi Miike, it's bound to be violent and disturbing.

Haven't seen this one, but I've found his movies hit and miss. 13 assasssins remake was amazing. Might give it a shot.

Is it going to be Shout or Scream? Don't guess it really matters too much either way, but I thought I read something a while back about Scream releasing something new from Miike, and thought it might be the beginning of a new stream of releases if they were looking at some Asian horror titles.

I'm actually one of the few who didn't care for 13 Assassins. I loved the first half when they were doing all their preparing and going through exposition, but once the action got going it lost me.

Yeah, I didn't care for one of the most well received action films of the past decade. I'm kinda weird.

I'm not sure. I know some of their horror titles fall under Shout sometimes so I went with that to be safe. If it's definitely Scream factory, I'll get the mods to change the title

Scream announced they were releasing it awhile ago. It's on their release schedule, though not listed until 2016:

OK, so this is not coming out on October 6th? Best Buy has also put this up on their website as a pre-order and a few websites are confirming the date as legit. However, Scream said it's not happening on the date?

Why did Amazon put it up if it was wrong? Weird.

Excited for this, but at the same time hesitant. Miike's remakes of Japanese classics have all fell flat for me. Graveyard of Honor, 13 Assassins, Harakiri, etc. etc.

Just watched this today and honestly, I really enjoyed it. The last 30 minutes will have you squirming in your seats, but the first hour is very restrained and paced at a slower speed. Still, this is one of Miike's most refined works, and one of his better films.

Surprised there hasn't been more dialog on this release. Scream Factory did a great job.
