Default It's amazing how much you spend.....

without realizing it......

I was just adding up everything in my home theater (movies and all) and its crazy how much you spend without even realizing it sometimes. Including my computer, laptop and movies (my computer and laptop are integrated into my HT so i count them) ive spent like 10k!. I know for some of you thats squat but i only make like 30k a year lol. But ive done it piece by piece so the total just kinda snuck up on me.

and ya know what, I love it

Watching a movie or listening to music is nothing like before and i cant wait to see what i nab in the future.

So have any of you ever looked back and gone Holy Sh*t i spent that much?

Definitely amazing when totaled up. Friends and others think I'm crazy, but hey, there is nothing like quality entertainment!

Having been an audio enthusiast for close to 40 yrs, I don't even want to think how much cash I've spent (invested) in this hobby. My Vinyl LP collection at close to 3,000 strong is irreplacable and I wouldn't even know how to evaluate it's worth.

It's all good though and I've never regretted any of the expenditures. The system I have today isn't nearly what it once was, but I figure I have close to another 40 yrs to build it back up again ! (I hope anyway)

I've only been involved in this "hobby" for a couple of years now and have already spent several thousand dollars. I don't regret a penny of it though, and at least I have something to show for all the money I've spent.

when i start buying my ht equip., i'm gonna look @ it as an investment. spend the money once, upgrade here and there as time goes on, and i'll have somewhere to enjoy movies for as long as i'm alive!!!

Default Was it really worth it?

I've spent roughly $5k on my HT system, including custom furniture for close to $2K. I just rent and don't collect/buy movies.

Was it worth for it? Yeah, probably it was. I do hate the fact that there's no upgrade capability in the future AFAIK, like going from 8-bit to 12-bit color will probably require replacing the TV and the BD. I hope not anytime soon...

I've been an AV enthusiast for over a decade now but have never been this obsessed about HI-FI until a year ago. All I can say is "Holy sh*t!!!"-for the $$$ spent and for the way my system performs.

lol, Mine isn't near as nice as some of you but I started this HT and Blu-ray venture in January. Just a quick glance at everything I have and I'd say I'm around $2500. Not at all bad for what I've got but the wife would probably kill me if she knew what has actually been spent! lol

I know how much I have spent and its alot. My wife sometimes looks around and says damn you know how much you have spent? Not anything like when I emptied my gun safe and she saw how much I had and commented about how much I had spent.

I've spent more than 10K just on blu-rays. I don't mind just because I consider this to be my hobby

Yep, By the time I realized the money I spent on Home Theater products such DVDs, Blu rays...etc I said...WOW..didn't think it was going to cost that much .

However, I am very happy I spent my money on my HT electronics. I couldn't be happier with my DVD and Blu ray collection I build up. It was ALL worth it to me!

Money isn't wasted if you spend it on something that you love as long as you are not struggling with finances.

I purchased just about everything in my sig since January 09, so that adds up to around $5,000 so far this year alone! I bought my TV, speakers, AVR, Subs, cables, wires, accessories, Buttkicker, Cyron Lights, SPL meter and some decor items. I hope to get a front projector, add'l room decor items and possibly another sub/amp/equalizer too before this year ends.

I finally figured out the trick was to get my wife involved as much as possible to increase the possibility of adding more stuff as we go along. So she is working with me on planning a change to our room's decor. Hec, I even got her involved with my equipment purchases.........(she was the one who loved the look/shape of my SVS cylinder sub.)

I did not realize I have been doing this for a couple years now. If someone told me back then that I was going to spend the amount I have so far, I would have looked them in the eye and told them they are lying.

I'm kinda cheap and I'm glad I didn't know what I was getting myself into.

Hell I'm trying to stop visiting this damn place!!!

You should have a generator buried next to you to power it all.

It's only money, you only live once, you can't take it with you. Plus it only holds the value that people put into it (therefore has no value in itself). So I'll part with something that really doesn't exist for my entertainment.

I'm just glad I've worked at places that I get a discounts...

Between my HT setup and camera gear, I have spent A LOT!!!

I justify it since I don't drink or smoke and the money I would spend on those habits jjust goes right into the fund for my hobbies.
