So I have jury duty tomorrow for the first time...
And as if that doesn't suck enough, I was out from work today because I've been sick the last couple of days. ![]() Is there a way to call out sick? Should I just show them how sick I am when I get there? lol |

Sure, lol. Another thing you can do is prove your mentally unstable... I would just go in there and start saying he's guilty, IDC... He's guilt as sin!

You can get out of it. I've managed to postpone Jury Duty 3 times on the same call-in. I've been postponing since September. First off, my boss postponed it. Then I postponed it. The 3rd time I went to Jury Duty then they had little cards that you had to fill out if you wanted to postpone. So I did it again. Now I am on day 4 of day 5 of not having to be called in AGAIN... I have to call tomorrow night and if they dont call me I'm home free!!! Just go in and ask for a postponement.

Jury duty really was all that bad when I went. I was actually surprised because I was BY FAR the youngest person there. I was 21 at the time and landed a red light ticket case.
As for your question , I think you should be able to get out of it IF you have too. |

Had jury duty once years ago. Got selected as an alternate. Chunky had been accused of shooting Fats, who ended up partially paralyzed. It was a total joke. Almost all of the witnesses called by the prosecution testified that one of the other witnesses shot Fats. Needless to say, case dismissed after a day.
Look on the bright side, you may end up sequestered on a high profile trial and get a multimillion dollar book deal next year. |

Some people get selected for JD more than others. When I lived in the county south of the one I live in now, I got selected 5 times in 8 years, while my friends never got selected once.
Thank goodness I no longer live in that county! I'm all for doing your civic duty, but COME ON! |

I had jury duty in 2005, and I wasn't selected for the jury so it only took the morning. I was very grateful because it was the first week of school and I would have been screwed if I had to miss significant class time. If you try to call in sick it will just get postponed and you will still have to go in.

Meh, if it's me I would go... I have no classes, only study for my A+ Certification. I kinda want to get THX certified... After I get A+ and Net+, then I will maybe before I get MCSE.

That's not true. I'm sitting in the waiting room right now. They mentioned nothing about a free lunch. The worst part is that i'm still sick...and all I want to do is go back to bed. ![]() |

In Connecticut you get $50 a day starting day 1, but only if you're not employed full time. If you are, your work is required to pay your regular wage for the first 5 days, and after that you're on the state's tab.
Oh, and no free lunch for us. We even had to pay for the court house coffee! |
