Default Having problem with Samsung 1500

OK, watched 21 last night everything fine. Wife took out DVD left player on for about 5 hours I decided to put Cars in and when it I closed the tray the display said close. It would not switch to load and nothing would happen. It just says close. I unplugged unit tried different blu ray discs an still nothing. It sounds like the disc is spinning but will not load. I also cannot get the default Samsung Blu Ray graphic to come on to TV with no disc in it... Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem to this, picked up a lens cleaner kit from a local electronics shop, good as new.

Default Extreme high number of Firmware updates results in ...

Extreme high number of Firmware updates for the 1500 results in attempts at fixing 1 thing and breaking several. That seems to be what is going on with Samsung. I have never seen so many updates rapidely coming out. For example. When Universal started releasing DVDs with Bonus view the Samsung 1500 Bonus view button did not work properly and the tab would remain on the screen. It took like 3 firmware updates to get the unit to display the Bonus view tab briefly and remove it with no action like it should.

Take it from me if you can get another brand like Sony or Panasonic do it quick before your stuck with that thing. It looks terrible incidentally compared to the Sony and Panasonic. Good Luck

I have always sworn by samsung but I must admit I had problems with there DVD players in the past. hmmm. I really like having the samsung because of the remote compatablility with my TV. Costco no longer has unit in stock. The Sony BX1 (which I think is the same as the 350 just with an HDMI cable and backlit remote) is $50 ($275) more and they also have a Phillips for $200. Samsung told me to re hook it up and blow compressed air into it. I really dont think it will solve problem. They want me to send it in for repair which at that point I will just return it to store and find a different unit.

you left it on for 5 hours of course it OverHeated as theres no Fan built in,It went into Protection mode.

Its a shame they don't have a rest button

just take it back and get a exchange or upgrade to the 2550 with a fan built in.

Thats Pretty sad if you ask me.I leave my equipment on sometimes. It's normal for people to do that once in a while and not to expect it to go into crap mode
