Default Possible Live Action TMNT Sequel!

http://www.newsarama.com/comics/0806...T25-Laird.html

Its about 2 months old, but i figured i'd share it with you guys.

NEWSRAMA: On the film development front, how's it going with Imagi and WB on the sequel?

Peter Laird: I'm not sure that we will be working with Imagi on the sequel -- I'd like to, but we're looking into other options. I can't really talk about it in detail, but there are several interested parties we're talking to. One of the things which seems to appeal to everyone is this idea of doing what people are calling a "hybrid" movie -- one where most of it will be live-action, but the Turtles would be very realistically rendered CGI characters. I think that could be, if done correctly, incredibly cool. One thing that I would love to see happen is to try to get Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chris Evans (who performed the voices of April O'Neil and Casey Jones in the 2007 computer-animated TMNT movie) to reprise those roles in a sequel... but as live-action versions of April and Casey. I think that would be wicked cool! As far as I know, at this point they have not been asked, and I have no idea if they would be interested in doing it. I can hope, though!

i used to love watching the original three live action movies, but TMNT didnt really look appealing to me. is it worth checking out?

and if they do another one, it should definitely be live action (realistic CGI turtles would have to be done really well to work) and sarah michelle gellar gets another vote from me!

Given some of the stunts that were pulled off by all of the characters in the CGI version of the turtles.

I think it would be a massive mistake to put Sarah Michelle Gellar in a live action role beside them.

Sure the turtles might look realistic, but April and co. would be wooden cutouts.

The fight choreography was bad enough in Buffy, it'll be horrendous in this because Gellar hasn't done anything like this in years.

I remember seeing something like this before TMNT came out. Their plan was to do live action movies with guys in suits again but the story line would have made it difficult and some of the things they wanted to do stunt wise and enemy wise trying to make it look realistic without a huge budget (TMNT cost only $34 million and made $54 million ). I think a live action version would have done around $100 million but would have cost at least $90 million.

I would prefer a live action movie, I almost didn't watch TMNT in theaters because it was animated (even though I watch animated things at home just not so much in theaters) but if it was live action I would have seen it the first weekend.

I think they should stay with the CGI format, they did the live action TMNT movies and the first two are classics (third not so much) but I don't think it would work out as good as now becuase Jim Henson isn't around to make the suits which were incredible. Plus, I liked the way they re-imagined the franchise, it was cool but Corey Feldmen should have voiced Don!

Imagine the turtles looking as real as Davy Jones did in POTC that would be amazing!

This would be awesome if it was a dark movie like The Dark Knight or Batman begins. Not some stupid kiddy movie like spiderman. That would be soooo sweet.

"Although the CGI film did well enough to warrant a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better 're-invention' (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film–like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc…there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right–but no official word yet…will keep you posted."

i thought the visual style of TMNT was quite good.. and the film wasnt bad either.. the older luve action turtles look a little silly by todays standards.. that said the the original was the first movie i went to see in the cinema i think..
