Slipcovers or no?

So not really sure were to put this.... lots of discussion on slip covers so what do you all think? I used to want it the slip on there if it came with the movie, but now i kinda think i might find them annoying (they look slightly different on the shelf)

So do you like em, hate em, not care... if you dont like em what do you do?

The ones with the 3d type effect are cool but I take all the slip covers off and put them in the closet. No need for them and they are in the way once you wanna get the disc out. I would prefer steelbooks instead.

Hi,

I used to throw them all in a box in the basement so that my cases all looked uniform.

Certain discs just don't offer standard packaging though. Now I just put all the slip cover releases together and I have so many of them that things still look uniform. Some of them look very neat and 3D.

If I didn't have the slip cover for Dracula ... I wouldn't be trying to get it. There may be a title in my collection for which there was once a slip cover and I just don't know about it... doesn't matter.

I hope to avoid steel books and digi-books completely.

I can't vote because a major option isn't listed. It one that a lot of people probably subscribe to:

'I hate them, but since it came with it, I keep it.'

That's my stance.

It is weird because DVD, I had to keep them on however on my Blus, I don't like on because it doesn't really match. I still keep them, I have about 30 in closet right now

I keep them, but I could care less about them. It's annoying cause the stores don't shrink wrap outside of the slipcover, so all the promo stickers are on the slipcover, and sometimes don't come off good.

Same, i won't be heartbroken if they are damaged or some movies don't have them. If they come with the movie, they stay on.

Since this is in the OT thread, I assume I can bring up DVDs?

I hate them in general, and throw them away (though I still have the Wall-E one from the 3-disc BD if anyone wants it).

However, SOMETIMES they are great, like (WARNING: here comes the DVD talk) the 15th Anniversary Ed. of Chaplin. It has a clear slipcover, with a closeup of Downey's/Chaplin's head, wearing a hat. When you slide it off, the actual case front is just plain white (including the plastic case), except for a small image of Downey/Chaplin holding a cane, which was hidden behind the hat on the slipcover.

So I don't like them 99% of the time, but if they were all done like the one I just mentioned, then they'd be great.

i hope all you that "throw them away" are actually recyling them and not trashing them :/
