You can connect to the internet either wired or wirelessly. If you are going wirelessly, you'll just need to have a wireless router somewhere in your house, it doesn't even have to be on the samefloor as the PS3... they run as cheap as $40-$50 (probably cheaper online or ifonsale somewhere). If you run it wired, then you'll just need to run an ethernet cable from your modem (or router) to the back of the PS3. An ethernet cord is pretty cheap, and if you have a long enough one and don't mind running a cord around the house, then it doesn't necesarily have to be close.

Just to be clear, there is no "adapter" for the PS3 to have wireless capability like the XBOX... the wireless is built in, you just need to have the router.

Based off of your questions so far, I have to ask the following:

1) Do you have high-speed internet, either cable or DSL?

If not, then you're out of luck connecting the PS3 to the internet for BD-Live.

2) If you have high-speed internet, do you have a router?

If you don't have a router, that would be something you need to purchase if you want to be able to have your computer and PS3 hooked up to the internet simultaneously and save you a lot of grief regardless.

3) If you have a router, is it wireless?

Chances are if it was bought even vaguely recently, it would support wireless but if was cable/telephone company provided they might have gone cheap and only provided wired. If it's wireless, all you need to do is configure the PS3 to use your wireless connection. If it's only wired, then you'll need to run an ethernet cable to the PS3, though depending on the distance it might be better to just invest in the wireless router.
