Default Star Trek: TOS

I know there has been talk of the films coming to blu next year, any chance of the original series making it's way?

It's probably only a matter of time since the first season made it to that old defunct HD format. Hopefully we'll see a tie-in with the new movie.

I also believe I read somewhere that the original crew films will be released as a boxed set.

Btw.. Toshiba PAID everything for the first Season. The Autoring, the Discs.. etc it cost Paramount almost nothing to put the first season out. That was a nice move to create HD DVD hype. The Bluray Group didn't do anything so it never came out. Free vs Money = FRee Win! But we'll see it someday.. someday..

as long as it's the new re-mastered verson's I will buy them. IMO the CGI did not go far enuff. but I like the newer clean look.

I hope they re-master TNG/DS9/VOY as well.

and maybe for a fun extra using FX make a clip of Deanna Troi talking with 7 of 9 about who really was the Hotter Trek Babe!

I'm sure there will be a STAR TREK release on BD when the new movie comes out next summer.

Personally, as much as I admire what they were trying to do with the remastering, I think that CBS Digital was woefully inadequate for the task. They should have tried to look up EdenFX, the effects house working on "Enterprise" before it got cancelled.

And speaking of "Enterprise," you'll probably see that and TOS on Blu-Ray before TNG/DS9/VOY. The only way they could do those other shows would be to either re-do all the effects in CGI or--and this would be the way I'd go--scan the 35mm effects elements at HD resolution and re-comp the scenes, making HD versions. If they can find all the elements, it'd be fairly easy to do, and would be less controversial. They'll still have to do some CGI enhancement, but at least it won't be rebuilding every scene, which might be unacceptable to some hardcore fans.

IMO the price MUST come down! TOS on DVD is like 80 bucks!! that's just crazy! if blu-rays are made? they better not be over 80 bucks!!!! .... PARAMOUNT Studio's!
