Default Watching preferences?

How do you watch shows? Do you catch them when they air? When they're on DVD? Or maybe do you only watch shows that come out on blu-ray?

Just wondering =]. I haven't followed a show on broadcast in forever. I might do it with Dollhouse because I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan... otherwise I wait till it's on dvd or blu-ray.

I usually DVR and then watch without commercials, but Lost is the only show that I catch at it's normal day and time.

I used to watch shows on tv all the time but the commercials and long waits between episodes on some shows bothered me so now I buy most shows on DVD or Blu and watch them. The only shows I must watch on TV are Heroes and Scrubs. . Unless I have nothing else to watch, I wait for their release.

I watch most of my shows via DVR as right now I have classes @ night when everything is on. Though if I'm not in class I definitely watch them live when I can.

DVR then watch later. If I am home when it's on I will DVR it then about half way through start watching it so I can skip the commercials. If its a show I don't really care to much for but, want to check it out I will watch it on line while at work.

Watch what I can when it comes on. Otherwise DVR then watch it later. About the only show I absolutely MUST catch when it's aired is The Office, of course .

I was thinking about this yesterday.

I like watching shows on DVD (or BD if available) instead of actually watching them on TV.

Part of it is because it allows me to watch them at my own convenience (DVR somewhat helps with that, but DVDs allow me to take them on the road, or watch them on my computer, or any TV in my house).

But the main reason is that I'd hate to get caught up in a show, only to have it suddenly cancelled (like Deadwood). I only started watching Six Feet Under a few months ago, but it's become one of my favorite shows, and I'm glad that there is a complete series to watch. Another example is The West Wing. I never watched a single episode when it aired, but now that it had a nice run, I can look forward to catching up on it all in my own time.

I don't have a dv-r! Never had that ability. Actually, I no longer have cable either; at first just to try to save a few bucks here and there, and since I am by far much more of a movie person, I figured it wouldn't be tooooooooo painful. Well, I seriously miss Comedy Central (Colbert Report, Daily Show, South Park), Food Network for Iron Chef and a few other stations that have cool science shows or syndicated shows like, Law and Order etc. I have on DVD every season of Gilmore Girls and Smallville that I have since purchased and am working on getting through. I doubt I would ever get either in BD, but who knows, really. Now movies on the other hand, those are thrown in all weekend long!

I'd hate to wait week to week for a single episode... for me it's easier to just get a season and watch as much as I want.

If I had been watching Firefly when it came out and it got canceled I'd be heartbroken.

For movies, I either Netflix or BD purchase. I also go to the theaters quite often. For TV, I record almost everything I watch to DTV HDDVR. I hate commercials.

About 7 months ago I got hooked on CSI (Las Vegas) on Spike. Now I try to watch every Thursday night on CBS. If I'm working then I DVR it and watch it when I have time. I have been getting all the season through Netflix trying to catch up and see all the episode in order. I'm currently up to season 7 and soon will be on season 8 which was last years season.

EDIT: I'll be sooooo glad when CBS/ Viacom/ Paramount brings this series to Blu-ray.

On DVDs or Blus.
I tried watching Lost out of the DVR but all the commercial breaks piss the sh*t of me so I decided to just wait for the video releases.
I just can't get used to the commercials, maybe it's because I was born and grew up in Europe where there's barely none...

I watch all my favourite shows as they air. I also purchase a lot of 'em on BD/DVD later on.
