Default Network splitter - RJ-45

I'd received may Sony 350 near x-mas and with out having to run a new 150ft cable was thinking of making or buying a splitter. Question 1 has any one done this and does it work and 2nd question, can I run two system at the same time off the splitter.

If I am figuring you correctly, what you are looking for is a switch or a hub.

Switches are a lot cheaper then they used to be...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...nd&Order=PRICE

You simply take the wire coming from your modem or router, plug it into the switch and then plug the device(s) into the switch

I have this one - it works very well for my PS3, Wii and XBox

Is it possible to just download the firmware onto your computer and put on a usb stick or similar and then just transfer to the 350?
I think that would be easier than either running a 150 foot cable or spending extra money on hubs/routers and cabling.

How about wireless?

You can download and burn the firmware to CD. That's what I did with my parents 301.

It's not for the updates that all done, just don't like running a wire from bedroom to living room for bd live

150ft cable run is a lot of work. If using a wireless router how do you add a wireless connection to the S350's ethernet port?

I've never tried it, but could you go with a wireless router at source linking to a wireless access point which could be hardwired to the player?

Thanks BLindsay.

Also, I was surprised and disappointed that the Sony S350 & S550 BD Players do not have updates via USB Flash Drive. The Samsung 1500 & 2500 can update via USB Flash Drive.

That looks like what we used to use back in the day to record phone calls when customers signed up for a product on their credit card (but with hand set sized jacks instead). I don't know if that would work...you might have some major packet loss on that one and the address will be conflicted between two machines.

You get a wireless access point (many routers can also be set up to act as a WAP) and then run ethernet from it to the player.

would that require using 2 wireless routers? One with the cable modem and the other behind the BD player.
