Default Panasonic 50PZ81B: What is the Sony equivalent please?

Panasonic 50PZ81B: What is the Sony equivalent please?

I may have an opportunity to purchase a new TV (Convinced wife new fireplace and Plasma would look great together)

I love the Panasonic, while my wife says she has always liked our Sony LCD.

My question is: I want to compare the Panasonic 50PZ81B to the corresponding Sony, but don’t know that much about Sony as my sights have been on the Pany for so long.

Can someone offer any advice please?

Regards

Martin

Thanks JimboTHX1138.

I am aware that Sony do not make Plasma - but was hoping a comparison could be made however different the technology.

Thanks

I notice you're in the UK. If you want a comparison ie. screen size, 1080p, 24p etc. Then this would probably be closest. But you will pay more for an equivalent sized Sony LCD compared to the Panny plasma.

This is the top of the line one.

If price is a concern, look at the W series.

EDIT: You can look at all there models in that size range here:

Sony makes an above average LCD. Depending on what your budget is, i'd recommend the XBR series. They are phenominal tv's!

You sure the wifey wont let you get another Panasonic?!

I suppose i'm looking to spend around £1,200 on the Plasma/LCD. I also want to buy a compact 5.1 speaker package to fill the TV room and can only spend around £500 on that. I'm not in any rush, but don't want Blu-Ray enjoyment to pass me buy
