Default superbit

are they still making new releases with superbit or is no one interested with the advent of bd? How does superbit quality compare with regular dvd and bd? I missed out on the whole superbit thing ... was it popular with videophiles?

SuperBit never really caught on much.. there were several titles released on Superbit. I have a few still. the PQ was slightly better than standard def DVD's. Most often the Superbit release had no "extras" included on the disc.. instead the extra space was used for a DTS soundtrack.. which was nice, esp if you preferred DTS over DD.

I still run into a Superbit dvd here and there at some stores.. they aren't collectible or that much in demand now that BD is superior.

I had a few Superbit DVD's, and would usually buy them if they were available. The problem most of the time was that they were usually offered after the standard release, and the upgrade wasn't huge enough to warrant a double dip. They did typically look better than regular DVD's, though. The one title that I did double dip and compare side by side was the first Spiderman, and there was definitely a noticeable difference between them. I think Sony/Columbia/TriStar were the only company that had movies on Superbit, which also limited the number of titles available.
