Default TH 50PZ800U going UP in price? Help please.

I first saw the TH 50PZ800U around christmas time (maybe November) being sold by Amazon including a 4-year warranty for a little less than $2000.

Looking now, the lowest I see is $2200 for the same item (including warranty and shipping). I'd like to get the TV if it is around $2000, but the prices appear to keep rising! Just in the last couple of days I've seen a bunch of "just 1 left" and one even RAISED in price after selling the last of "just 1 left"

My wife and I know it's a major investment, but keeping it under $2000 would be fantastic. My personal worry, at this point, is that since it appears to be in demand, the price will actually RISE, not lower.

Please help!!!

PS - the reason why I have only been shopping on Amazon.com is that they have a 4 year warranty for 279! The longest I've seen on other websites is a 3 year.

I have the 80u and bought it from amazon, but w/o the warrenty. I love amazon and their service. I understand the piece of mind w/ a extended warrenty, but do you realize that plasmas and lcds only have a 3% failure rate. I believe the average cost of fixing a plasma is like 320$. Iknow that is the average, so some can be way less or way more. Just a thought, but I would do more research then just take my word.

Not sure if this will be the best price, but I can guarantee that the service you will get through them is bar none. I have used B&H for 12 years to buy my professional photo equipment. It's just under $2000 (free shipping), and they offer a 5 year plan around $400 extra. Give them a call...you may be able to strike up a better deal like I have done many times in the past. Good luck...

Also...on their site is says it's discontinued and is no longer available. Calling them is the only way to find out for sure if they have it...

Check 6ave.com
http://www.6ave.com/SHOP/product.aspx?sku=PANTH50PZ800U
It's $1848.06 before coupon. $1737.18 after 6% coupon.
6ave.com is legit and several people here have bought from them including me.

Panasonic plasmas have a 2% failure rate, and the majority of those fall within the manufacturer's warranty period. I understand piece-of-mind, but I also understand good odds when I see them.

They were rated the #1 online dealer for 2008 by Consumer Reports.
