Does this have the original theatrical/VHS soundtrack or the awful DVD Dub?

To resolve any lingering doubts: The soundtrack on the Blu-ray is the same remastered soundtrack prepared in 2000 when the film was restored by CFI for the DVD release. This should come as no surprise, because the section on restoration in the "Car Crash King" documentary made at the time (and included on the Blu-ray) made it pretty clear that Denice Halicki, who controls the rights, and CFI, which oversaw the restoration, are satisfied with this version.
I'm not saying they're right, just noting that this certainly appears to be the version they now consider "standard". A Blu-ray review will be up in the next day or so. |

Gone In 60 Seconds (1974), buyer beware, no original soundtrack again!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went to BBY and picked this up for today for $7.99 with the U&S and I was hoping it to contain the option for the original 70's mono soundtrack to be included this time, NOPE! still, the image is pretty good, I see no DNR, and lots of natural grain, plus it has a lot of extras/suppliments, and it's a combo with a blu and a dvd included (each disc has cool full colour artwork). I guess Denice Halicki still dont want an original soundtrack, why remaster a print and do new audio, very odd IMO, the cheesy 70's sound track was big part of the film. I'm still glad to have the road movie in my blu collection, just not including the original soundtrack is a missed oppertunity. I'm still on the lookut for an old VHS version of the film with the original soundtrack |

on the back cover it claims to have interviews with Parnelli Jones, JC Agajanian, Jr, and Bobby Ore, I CANT FIND THEM, trust me I've tried ![]() and it says it contains The Car Crash King "Cut To The Chase", 3 Featurettes, actually they ARE NOT featurettes, THEY ARE a compilation select chase scenes from The Junkman, Deadline Auto Theft and Gone in 60 Seconds 2 ![]() |

In regards to this particular screencap:
Look at the focus: it's set for the mid-ground. It appears that the problem isn't the mastering of the film, but the competency of the original DP. Does this forum support a thumbnail option? |

I guess it depends on how you calculate it. At just after the 55:00 mark, Maindrian Pace pulls away from the cops in "Eleanor". About 35 minutes later, there's a development (I'm trying not to be spoiler-ish here) that puts an end to the demolition derby aspect, but Pace is still on the run. At about the 1:35 mark, the chase and the movie are over.
I'm currently writing the review. I don't consider the video quality to be poor. The movie is what it is: cheap and frequently underlit. The extras are indeed different than what is listed on the back cover. I addressed the soundtrack issue in post #9 above. |
