Default Recommendations for a receiver?

Hi guys!

I'm looking at upgrading my receiver and would like to get your opinions. My current receiver is listed in my sig and it's strictly DD 5.1/DTS 5.1.

I'm looking for a good HDMI receiver that decodes DolbyTRUEHD/DTS-HD along with Dolby Digital, etc, etc. I also wanna stay under 500.00 total.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

That's what I bought 6 months or so ago when I was in your same position. It's been an awesome unit so far and I'd highly recommend it as well.

I just purchased the Sony STR-DG920 and I love it. It can be found for $399 with free shipping.

Agreed. Pretty much the best bang for the buck under $500.

Onkyo 606
Sony 720
Yamaha 663 (I have the 863)

Any of these should do what you need at a reasonable price.

That's what I've got too, and you're right it is nice. The 606 was the later model with more HDMI ins and outs. Same guts though.

I've yet to upgrade myself, but I recommend the Onkyo TX-SR606. It's probably the best entry-level system for the HT enthusiast.
