I have a huge problem. Right now i want to get a 360 really badly. One reason is b/c of the games they have. Another is b/c i have Xbox games that i still want to play. But i know Blu-ray is the way of the future. What should i do? I hate the the games they have for PS3 but i love the hardware features such as a large hard drive and a fast CPU and of course the Blu-ray drive. What should i do? at this point all my friends are playing 360 with inferior technology b/c they are uninformed consumers. Right now i am waiting for any news about Blu-ray for 360 and its really killing me. does any one know at all if MS is gonna make a Blu-ray drive like the HD-DVD?

Oh yeah i almost forgot about the HDMI port, i mean i saw the video and everything and i know that MS denied that they are making 360s with HDMI but is that not a marketing strategy so they sell systems now and then more later? Also MS signed a deal with Chartered Semiconductor for a 65nm processor coming out mid 2007. Frankly at this point i just want to play Halo 3 and this really cool looking game Project Offset.

hey, this is completely off topic, but this post reminded me of something I was wanting to ask. Recently I've been at my buddys house and he has a 360, we've been playing online on COD3 together, me as a guest. I've tried to do the same setup on my PS3, Couldn't figure it out. Is it possible??
-PS, I know what you mean, out of all my friends I'm the only one with a PS3, 4 others have 360 and they play online together all the time. I kind of feel left out... oh well, I got a blu-ray, they don't. and one of my friend 360 died on him for the second time. |

Oops... I meant the 360 will not play at 1080p. It plays at 1080i. Anyway, yeah, if MS slaps an HDMI on the system, I'll but one just for all the cool games - like Halo 3 so I agree there but I wont be buying the dopey outboard HD-DVD player because it still lacks the HDMI and doesn't have 1080p support at all.

PS3 is the way to go especially if you have a 1080p TV. There's already great games on the PS3 already, Resistance: Fall of Man, Ridge Racer 7, Untold Legends, Genji... and today Virtua Fighter 5 comes out. Then you got Playstation store, you get Gran Turismo HD for free, you got a great multiplayer game called Blast Factor though you'll need to buy it, Flow is coming out tomorrow, Tekken 5 is coming out, all these games on PS are in full 1080p resolution. not to mention Motorstorm and F1 is coming out shortly. You're going to see games later in the year that will be superior in terms of graphics, Oblivion is already looking better then the 360 version, then you got all the best exclusive movies on Blu-ray only.
I own both consoles BTW, I love them both but if I had to pick, I would go with the PS3! ![]() |

yeah i know about those games but the thing is that i dont really like japenese RPG's and also i dont like racing games. I know this might offend some people but i dont really like oblivion, partially b/c i have a friend who talks about it all the time. But a plus for the PS3 in my opinion is Project Offset but thats also coming out on the 360 but again, all my friends have 360's.

In a way, I am in the same situation. Except, I already have the PS3.
But let me explain: My friends have had the 360 for quite a while now, and I watched them play it, and as I played it with them, I never really thought about actually buying one. Because I knew that I was waiting for the PS3. And I got the PS3 on release day (after 33 hours of waiting in line). And I'm LOVING Resistance Fall of Man, and can't wait to pick up Motorstorm and all the other PS3 exclusive games in the future. But let me say this...I am now thinking of also getting an Xbox 360. Most of my friends have them. I have 3 brothers. All 3 of them have one. Out of every single person I know, I am the only one who has a PlayStation 3. I am definitely glad I do have a PS3, but in my opinion the 360 is still tempting, if only to be able to play with my friends on the weekends. Every weekend I go to my friend's apartment. My other friends come, and so does my brother. We have 3 Xbox 360s hookedup, and we play Gears of War for hours on end. It is amazing fun, and addicting. That game, combined with the fact that all my friends have a 360, make me want to get one too...even though I have the PS3. Ok, now that I've pretty much repeated myself for 3 paragraphs straight, let me sum this up...I am glad I have the PS3, and I wouldn't trade it in for a 360. But I still do want a 360. If I had to choose just one, I'd go with the PS3. But if you can afford it, go and get both! Lets take a look at some of the advantages of both systems. 360 Advantages: -More good games than PS3 (for now) -Almost everyone has them (including all your friends) -Superior online service (at a price) PS3 Advantages: -Great exclusives in the future (GT5, MGS, Motorstorm, etc.) -Superior technology (larger HDD, Blu-ray built-in, memorycard readers, web browser, HDMI for full 1080p) -Free online play So I guess the real question to ask is, are you buying for NOW, or for the future? In the future, everything for the PS3 will be up to par (actually better than par) with the 360. But if you want fun NOW, then it seems like the 360 is the way to go. |

If you look historically the Sony consoles have had the largest number of titles, the largest number of high scoring titles by a massive margin. Sure there are may be more cross-over this gen but still Sony will most likely have the largest amount of 3rd party support. |

Forgot to mention, while yes the 360 has easy to use online and more people with headsets I have never encountered lag playing Resistance, EVER. I can't say that is true for any of my 360 games. Honestly I don't know why, maybe having the integrated friends list takes up bandwidth or something.

No doubt I was heavy into Halo:CE, not so much Halo 2 (just wasn't nearly as good).
Honestly go with the 360 if you want to play Halo 3, I doubt that will hit the PS3 just as games like Resistance will not hit the 360. Plus if your friends will be playing it I'm sure you'll want in on the fun. Exclusives make it hard to just have one console as not having one means missing out on some great stuff. I'm fortunate that I have both. If I could only have one I'd sell my 360 and keep my PS3 hands down. Last edited by Monkey; 02-21-2007 at 10:17 PM. |

"IF YOU CAN, YOU SHOULD" that pretty much applies here, if u got the $ and since ur friends are all on it, i guess you should. The PS3 is the better meachine but in terms of what your wanting, i guess the 360 is offering you it.
If all your friends are online on the 360 and you really feel your missing out by not getting a 360, then go for it, get a 360. I personally am lucky to be able to buy plenty games for one games console but the constant upkeep of the PS3 and 360 would be way too much for me in terms of how much i'd be spending (i'm in full time education & don't currently work and btw, i'm 17) |
