Default Dark Knight Annoyance

I got the "Dark Knight" blu ray and got an unpleasant surprise when I played it.
It seems that for the entire film, the aspect ratio changes from 1:78 to 2:40.
It is horrendously annoying to see this picture change back and forth. I don't know how it was exhibited in the IMAX theaters, but in the regular theaters, the aspect ratio did NOT go back and forth.
I suppose now I'll have to get the standard dvd in order to watch the film as I saw it in theaters.

the scenes filmed by christopher nolan in IMAX are the ones that fill the tv screen. the picture shifts because the IMAX scenes are of a different aspect ratio than the rest of the film. it's not a technical error.

I didn't find it annoying. In fact, I barely noticed. I did notice whenever it changed, but it didn't bother me at all.

Some people are just too anal for the sake of it.

Saw it for the first time a few days ago......

I meant to watch for the shifting aspect ratios, and STILL didn't notice them (forgot to pay attention while I was watching)\

I can't see how someone could have been that bothered by it

I really don't see what the big deal is about the scene shift. It's noticable, but the IMAX scenes are flat out goregous...and clearly it was what Nolan intended or else it wouldn't have been done that way

Oh, and I must agree with reallyagi

The OP would rather have Nolan cut the top and bottom of the picture off.

I loved the aspect ratio change. It was smooth and clear but I do have a real annoyance I found in watching The Dark Knight. My eyes kept moving to the light that was being reflected out of the eyes of the actors. Did anyone else notice this? There was a ton of light coming out of all the actors eyes. I have noticed it a bit in other blue-ray releases but I REALLY noticed it in this film.

Am I crazy or did this annoy any others? :-)

Cover your television with Duct tape, and watch it in "Silver-vision"

And you were so worried....Did you like it Beta? The "so called" political issues of the film didn't prevent you from enjoying it did they?
