Default Hannibal Coming Jan 27, 2009

I happened to be at Amazon and saw this. Has some specs with a release date. I hope this isnt a mistake.

It's a German import (presumably all-region since Amazon are carrying it).

That sucks. I now see where the same studio will release Hannibal Rising as well. I wonder why the U.S. studio isnt releasing it yet.

I would love to pick this up with the upcoming Silence Of The Lambs disc, but that import price is a little too steep for me. I'll have to hold out for a U.S. release.

To bad this is a German release. Just can't see paying that steep price for the import. I'm hoping with Silence of the Lambs coming in March for the U.S. then Hannibal and Manhunter won't be too far behind.

I think I am going to wait for the big, juicy box set of all the Hannibal movies --- hmmm - are any from different studios - such that a box set is not likely??

The German release of Hannibal has been out for a few months; I guess Jan. 27 is when Amazon expects to get it.

From the review I read, the transfer appears to have some DNR (not as bad as some, but it's there) and the extras are PAL. It's probably the same master that was used for the DVD, but in HD.

As far as I can tell Hannibal, Manhunter & Silence of the Lambs are all MGM, Red Dragon is Universal and Hannibal Rising is The Weinstein Company.

I found Hannibal extremely boring and unsatisfying... lousy script, only good in it is wonderful Julianne Moore... I pass on that however it comes

I really like Hannibal, although it's *much* different from The Silence of the Lambs. Scott's style is flashy and the movie goes *way* over the top, whereas Demme was much more restrained. Hannibal is really a very dark love story, which isn't going to appeal to everyone.

Definitely the weakest of the Hopkins trilogy. The story was reasonably entertaining but Ray Liotta was cringe inducing in his performance (and a complete a$$hole too). On the plus side, the Florence segments may look beautiful on BR.

Yeah he got Hannibal Rising mixed up with Hannibal. IMO the former is the better movie. Surprisingly good I thought.
