Default Blu-ray hunting at Wal-mart - CHECK the real price, save money!

I don't know about you guys, but at my local Wal-mart here there is a stack of Blu-rays bunched up together, some cheap and some expensive and well, many times they mess up the pricing...so what I do is use a self-scanner to see if the movies have been mislabeled and priced wrong. I already saved a few bucks doing this. Today I found Universal soldier for $16.83 and it was priced 19.83, I also found Black Hawk Down for $18.83 and it was priced $27.83.

Anyways, just thought I would pass that little bit of info along if your a penny pincher like me and like to save a few bucks here and there.

My Walmart sucks, they keep the Blus under lock and key so I can't even see the price it is marked at in the first place. Plus the workers there seem to never be around to open the case I saw Dexter: Season 1 and was tempted to buy it if I knew the price but considering I couldn't see it, I left it. My Walmart is losing money left and right when it comes to Blu sales because nobody wants to wait for them open up the case. I have seen so many people go to HMV in the same mall and pay more just because of the case and the fact that the workers are never around.

Please excuse my rant, I used to love Walmart but can't stand it now & I just want it to be better again.

Nope. SCOP only applies to an item that has a feature card advertised lower than what the item scans for. Individual price tags/stickers are not supported by Scanning Code. So say if a blu-ray has a sticker on it stating 19.99, and a feature card advertising 14.99 and it scans as 21.99: according to the code they are to sell it to you at 4.99. If the feature card was lower than $10, then you are entitled to it for free. Keep in mind when using this that it is not a law (only in Quebec it is).

our walmart here has them in a display case (recently they decided to leave them open) but the case is on the main til counter, so it basically looks like you're checking out the customers while you're looking at the BDs. thats the reason i refuse to go to walmart, hate trying to look through the legs of other customers and i feel like the biggest perv

Yeah, i hate that walmart. It's impossible to get someone to open the case, and then when i do track one down, they look pissed off and impatient while im checking out prices. HMV is the way to go, i find they've gotten fairly competitive with walmart. Specially the 2/40$s 2/50$s, and you can browse on your own without an impatient employee waiting to lock them up : ).

Excatly my point fellow Winnipegger , I go to HMV, BB and Future only because I can actually browse the movies i want, looking at the specs and seeing if the case / disc could be damaged i.e the disc not held in place by the stopper. I understand they want to reduce theft but the fact of the matter is, more titles are coming, the case is constantly messy and prices are never visable plus I agree, every employee there looks angry when you asked for the case to be open.

My wal mart sucks here in the states too. I am glad they are opening a target across the street. Now maybe they will have better stock and cheaper price. All the movies they have are $29.99. It is cheapper for me to go Amazon.

I'd rather pay a few bucks somewhere else than waste my time, money, and patience dealing with the horrible company that is walmart and the worst owners of a business ever the Waltons.

I ran into the opposite scenario at my Wal-Mart when I first started buying Blu-Rays about a year ago. I bought Ratatouille and Meet the Robinsons. Both were marked at $24.98 and I was charged $29.98 each. I went to customer service to get my $10 (plus tax) refunded to my credit card account.

I have only ever bought one Blu at Wal-Mart, and that was Horton Hears a Who, and technically, the fiancee bought it. Of the 46 I currently have, one comes from Wal-Mart, one from Best Buy, the rest from Future Shop.

Mainly because I work at FS.

+1 for not liking Wal-mart. It would be awesome if their CS was any good, as it's only a 2 minute walk from my place. I went in there last week to browse, and they had actually tidied up their area. All blu's were behind the glass. I think this was the first time I had ever seen that. Usually they have a handful of titles just floating about mixed in with regular DVDs.

I'm starting to make peace with knowing I now have to browse the aisles at HMV & BB & FS, which I guess isn't too bad, as they are all next to each other.

If this -50 weather decides to break, I might walk on over to WM and see if they have anything kicking around.

It depends on the movie. Some of the catalog titles I have seen at like $8 for me. New releases, not much.
