Default Sony STR-DG820 and Onkyo TX-SR606

Ok, so I just received my Onkyo in the mail and read that the Sony Receiver is a better receiver. Did I make a mistake with the Onkyo, or are they both good receivers? Should I return or sell my Onkyo and order the Sony?? What do you guys recommend as I am a newbie.. Thanks!

I can't speak to the Sony 820, but I did like the Sony 920 more then the Onkyo 606. I know Mr Roy said he likes the 920 over his Onkyo 605, which I believe he is now selling.

Best thing is to hear them for yourself and then decide what you like best.

I have had bad experiences with Sony products. Other have had good experiences with Sony. I have an Onkyo 605 and have loved it and as been reliable. Opposite for some others. If your happy with your purchase, I say just keep it and enjoy it. I did and have.

In my experience, Sony recievers are garbage, I replaced my Sony 6.1 reciever with a logitech Z-5500 THX computer package and it was 1000X better then went to the Onkyo 606 and LOVE IT.

I have a STR-DG820 and am very impressed with it. It handles everything I throw at it with ease and clarity. I've had great experiences with Sony products for many years.
That said, I would suggest you look at your reasons for thinking about changing.
Onkyo, although I've never owned one, apparently make very good products and comes highly recommended by some respected members of this forum,
But, if you're going to change a piece of equipment every time you read a glowing report about something, I think you stand a good chance of going around in circles like a dog chasing it's tail and you may end up spending a lot of time and money only to end up not very far from where you started.
I think the whole idea is to learn how to set up whatever equipment you have so it sounds or looks good to you. Others opinions are valid, but in the end, it's what pleases you that counts.
