Denon AVR 689??? Any Good?? - Blu-ray Forum

Just wondering if I should purchase this receiver (Denon 689). I found it for sale locally from a guy, and the price is negotiable. Can anyone speak for this receiver? Will it work well with a PS3? Is it worth spending $150-$200, or should I wait to buy an Onkyo 606? It seems like a good deal, I was just wondering if anyone owns it, and if it will give me enough power (80 watts per channel) for a start up Home Theater, and HD audio. Thanks for any info.

Well, the 689 won't transfer the Audio through HDMI. I would either spend the extra money on the Denon AVR 789 or get the Onkyo. I have the 789 and I absolutely love it. It passes both video and audio through HDMI, has all the latest audio codecs, it's just an over all great budget receiver that is future proof for the mean time. It works great with my PS3.
