Question CES 2009 - Sony displayed Blu-ray recorder prototype?

On the Blu-ray recorder for the US market news front, I saw this article. Interesting in this article is
Quote:
Other prototypes included Blu-ray recorders and a 400 disc Blu-ray changer for the mass market.

Again, these were prototypes but Sony said that there was a high probability that we would see them in stores in the future.
The article does appear to be dated to January 8, 2009.

Seems no other source picked this up. Does everyone have their own version of the news these days????

Well they did, but maybe you overlooked it: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2266

Unlike the current Japanese models that serve as a DVR, Burning and playback solution, this product is designed to function as a fully featured Blu-ray player with the additional capability of burning AVC-HD content imported from a high definition video camera."

Yes, I did miss that one. So, there is confirmation. Thanks! I usually search for "recorder" however, it looks like I'll have to expand my search to include "burner" and/or "burning".

There is a photo, too. Hopefully, the input connected to the camera is an HDMI input. If so, I'll certainly consider buying one when they come out. IMHO, if it is usb or fire-wire, it has limited value for the US market.
