Best LCD HDTV? I would say the Samsung Ln55A950. I really enjoy mine, one of the best purchases I've made.

Obviously, the one we own is the best. (smile). I have a Sony XBR and it is flawless. But I think the Samsung is in the same class as a Sony. The new Samsungs look sweet! However, I would definately purchase another Sony when the time comes.

I coulda sworn I saw that the Series 8 had a 75,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. However if Amazon is right then what does it mean? What makes them any different picture quality wise?

Also I've seen the Series 9 has having a 100,000:1 dcr. Is that right?
Do people still not understand the Dynamic Contrast Ratio marketing CRAP being spread by the LCD manufacturers? Those numbers mean absolutely nothing, nada, nill, squat (unless you plan to use your set as an overhead light ). Static (ANSI) contrast ratios are the ONLY numbers that mean anything. Read up.

The top end Samsung's and Sony's are all but equivalent. It then comes down to a matter of brand. Price may be a factor for many.

I think my 550 is gorgeous. What makes a picture on a 950 1080p better than a 550 1080p?

I'm sure there are added/upgraded features found on the 950 which are not available on the 550...hence the difference in price.

It is similar to buying a base-model car as opposed to one that is fully loaded...ya know what i mean?
