What's amazing in my mind is how far the surround field has come in games.
I mean to say ambient sounds, like birds chirping or someone sneaking up behind you. Being able to hear where a gun shot is coming from before you turn around and empty your arsenal. For best sound it would be tough to beat Ratchet and Clank. COD4, Farcry 2 and Fallout 3 are standouts aswell. |

A lot of people don't realize it because they never gave the game a chance due to the unique control system when it was first released...
Lair has a pretty kick ass sounscape with all kinds of stuff flying past you and around you! Everything else that I would mention has already been listed by others. |

What the hell? Why has Warhawk not been mentioned!?
![]() ![]() What further confuses me is the fact that most of the games listed up there are multi-platform - therefor are compressed Dolby Digital. I've never been impressed with a multi-platform game's audio... but hey, whatever. ![]() Oh, Socom has some cool gun effects! ![]() Last edited by X-Ninja; 01-18-2009 at 01:35 AM. |

I believe it's the only game at the moment with that sound..if only all developers took advantage of the blu-ray and put 7.1 on all releases!! ![]() ![]() |

There's a dozen or so first-party games that claim to support 7.1 LPCM and probably the same again third-party, but 5.1 and above. There's so many downloadable games and for the following reason it's hard to keep track of numbers.
Only SCEJ really publishes/acknowledges these specs, otherwise you have to get the info straight from the dev or test for yourself. |
