K tabloid The Daily Express claims that Tom Cruise hopes to produce a remake of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" for United Artists.

Cruise is apparently already interviewing potential screenwriters for the project in which Cruise would play Sundance, the role made famous by Robert Redford in the original 1969 western, while John Travolta would take on the Paul Newman-originated Cassidy.

The article also indicates that Cruise has been wanting to make this film for years now and obtained Paul Newman’s blessing before he passed. File this under extremely dubious for now.
