Default Anyone Play Games on there Plasma? Has anything gone wrong

I'm told time after time I'm going to get Burn in if I use my xbox 360

I know the old Plasma screens have this but mine is a Nov 2008 model year and was told it has a anti burn in feature.

I never let the game be paused only when its loading

Has anyone here wrecked there Plasma with playing Games

i have a panny 50" 80u and i game all the time, it is not unheard of for me to play COD4 for 4 / 5 / 6 hours at a time and i have never had any IR and definately no burn in! I have even looked for the IR after a gaming session and have never seen any!

I have a Panny Plasma and game at least 20 hours a week. No permanent burn-in problems at all.

Hogwash!

You'll see lots of folks chime-in about gaming on their plasmas. My kids and I game all of the time, and the worst to happen is minor IR that goes away as soon as you start watching standard/moving content. Don't let these fears dissuade you from enjoying crystal-clear (during motion) gameplay on your plasma.

What is IR?

Ricshoe What about TV Can you still see a image when flipping the channels

I just bought 4 Xbox 360 HDMI Kits and Didn't know if I should sell all four and use my old CRT Tv for my Games.

As I was Going to Sell 2 anyways

IR = image retention

One thing that some plasma's if not all eventually can ecounter is IR. it is when something that has been on the screen for a while like the espn ticker or the weather channel logo, or a hud from halo etc will stay on the screen when you change channels for just a few moments (usually seconds), then the image will go away.

Image retention is nothing to worry about!

I've never had a problem with any of my plasma's. My Panasonic 60u is a late 2006 or early 2007 set & it is flawless & I play games on it a lot.

I never understood that people talk about TV logos causing IR since everytime a commercial comes on, the logo is gone. Logos are usually only present during a show.

I've had mine since Monday and the kids have watched a bunch of SD programming with the black bars on the side. I have not seen any IR. When I'm not watching a show, I am running some burn-in images from http://www.webapalooza.com/plasma/. I use the 120 images set at 10 seconds each.

I've had my Pioneer 5020 for a week now and I've played all sorts of games on my PS3, 360 and Wii with not single hint of IR. I can't vouch for other plasma brands but, I know with Pioneers there hasn't been any cases of IR while gaming after a 150 break-in period. Just break your set in for 150 hours and game away.

I play on my plasma all the time with no burn in. Just because its a video game, it doesnt make it anymore likely that you will get burn in more than a movie. You get burn in from static images of varying contrast, meaning images not moving that have distinct black and white differences.

I've heard of certain screen's of Madden getting burnt onto their screens... but a guy at Best Buy told me that this doesn't happen anymore to newer plasmas.

I played GRID and FIFA 09 today for almost 2 hours without any issues.

Kids watched about 6 hours of SD programming on Friday since they were home from school and I did not see any IR from the black bars.

Honestly I think IR is only an issue maybe for older Plazma'a . Now with the newer ones I seriousaly doubt it anymore. Being the technology of it has goten a ton's better. (did that make sence)?

We just got a Panny 42" plasma for Christmas. I used a break-in disc (found info in search feature here) and let it run for the first 100hrs and now we go crazy on the TV without any worries. I don't know if your TV has a break-in period recommended or not but I would run it anyway.

I have a 50" Samsung plasma that I got last February. I've been gaming on it since day 1 and never had a problem. Occasional IR that can only be seen on black screens. As soon as there's color again it's gone.

You'd have to have those static images on screen for a constant 8 hours to see burn-in and all plasmas have counter measures now, like inverters, orbiters and white screen... stuff like that if you DO get burn-in. Film buffs still prefer plasma though from retailers I've talked to. LCD has inherantly looked too 'processed', say many of my buddies.

Been gaming on my Panasonic plasma for over a year now with no problems.

I know it can be an issue if your TV isn't properly calibrated. Just don't have the brightness turned up too high and you should be fine.

I have played hundreds of hours on my plasma and it has been great so far. No problems at all. Not even any image retention that I have seen as well.
