Default Saw blurays

I know many people don't like the Saw sequels. I do. I am wondering, however, for those of you that do like Saw and its sequels, is the upgrade to bluray worth the $10.00? I already have them on SD. I have heard that the origional Saw does not have very good PQ. Your opinions?

Every Saw movie on blu-ray is an upgrade from the DVD version! It may not look astonishing, but it is an upgrade!

Agreed, especially in the sound department.

We see this similar topic way too much, pretty much everyday.....

If there is a Blu-Ray title out that you already have the DVD of, unless you can't afford it, it's always going to be worth the upgrade. Unless someone didn't personally like the movie, I don't think anyone is going to tell you it's not worth the upgrade.

I upgraded the first three Saw movies from my DVD version, and I don't regret it. The first two Saw movies can be purchased new for $10!

Some would say that the PQ in Gangs of New York was not worth the upgrade.

I didn't know there was a statute of limitations on how many times people could be asked for their opinion.

I just bought Saw 1 & 2 from amazon because they were $10 each. I had them on DVD before and the PQ _is_ an upgrade, although still gritty, but that adds to the movie. The AQ was definately much better though.

Actually just got done watching Saw 2... re-watching for Saw 5 purposes!

I'm not sure whether or not this is important to you, but the Saw 1 blu-ray is the theatrical R-rated version, not the unrated version. I still have no clue why they did that.

Yeah, that's weird. Personally, I have no clue why a lot of different decisions are made by the movie industry.

If you can, try to get the first installment for under $15. The PQ is good, but it is only a minor upgrade. Add to that the fact that it is not the Director's Cut and you might want to hold onto your DVD copy until another version is released.

Everything from 'Saw II' onwards is more than worth the price difference.

I think the first 3 are on sale at Wally World for 10 bones a piece.

As with the majority of others, if you can get it for under $10, then I'd go for it. I bought Saw 4 the day it came out and was disappointed, but I think that had more to do with the price I paid and the actual movie itself.

Thanks

Actually, it is. The box is a misprint. Saw on Blu-ray is the unrated cut.

Are you sure the Saw blu-ray is the unrated extended cut? Everything I've read says that it's the theatrical cut.

Not really. The first two at least are missing extras and the extended cuts.
I'm not sure about Saw III. I'd have to check the specs.

Not worth the upgrade.

The Saw III blu-ray is identical to the original unrated DVD release as far as content is concerned. The extended Director's Cut that was released months later on DVD, however, has never been released on blu-ray. As that's the version the filmmakers consider to be definitive, it would be nice to see it on blu-ray.

Thanks for the info.

This is why I still own them all on DVD except for Saw V.

I was gonna get the spinning saw packaging for the DVD, but ended up going with the Blu-Ray after all. But the rest arn't worth my time. Hopefully we'll see new versions either this year or next.

Trust me, it's the unrated. The added gore in the Amanda scene is there, and the final Adam/Dr. Gordon scene is the shortened unrated version.

Saw II is the extended cut as well.

Yeah, I'm in total agreement. I did buy Saw IV on blu-ray though, and I plan to get Saw V on blu-ray as well. But for now I'm sticking with my DVDs of Saw I-III. The missing supplements on Saw II and the outdated cut on Saw III make them almost feel like a downgrade to me (though obviously the PQ/AQ are better).
