Default Help Please

Hey guys,

I recently bought a Pioneer VSX-818V-K receiver. I am having problems getting it to work correctly. I have a Vizio LCD, so I am running HDMI from my PS3 and my cable box to the receiver, and HDMI from the receiver to the TV. When I try to watch TV, it says HDCP Error (H1001). Or even when I try use it with the PS3, I just get a black screen. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks guys

I'm not sure what's you problem. Be ssure to have the 2 imputs in the 2 "HDMI in" on the receiver and the "HDMI out" to TV. Now, the PS3 and cable box must be set to HDMI. Then it's only to be sure that you're on the right "input" select on your receiver.
But as I read the manual on page 17, this receiver doesn't manage audio through HDMI !?!?
What the hell ! Am I getting something wrong...
See also page 65 about assinging HDMI imputs.
Hope it'll help.

Thanks for your response, I double checked our inputs and outputs, and they are correct. So I really don't know what is wrong with it, because not only am I not getting sound, I am also not getting a picture. I didn't get a chance to look at the manual again talking about the audio through HDMI. Maybe I can return this receiver, to get the Onkyo 606 that it seems like I should have went with in the first place.

Exchange it for the Onkyo. You'll not get to enjoy HD audio with that Pioneer receiver, which makes it a waste of money IMO.

sounds like a handshake issue to me! are there any updates in firmware for your tv? check the manufacturers website, if not check for updates on your receiver from their website

Go straight to the TV from the player. Try both cables. Does it work on one cable but not the other? It's a cable issue. Does it work on both cables? It's a receiver issue. Does it not work at all? It's either an HDTV or Player or cable issue (if they're the same cable).

There's something that's out of HDCP compliance. I'm betting its either the receiver or the cables.

I've tested the cables and they work fine when i bypass the receiver. Wonder if Best Buy will let me return it when it is opened.
