Default "Kill Bill vol 1 & 2: The Whole Bloody Affair." Did I imagine this or something??

I could have sworn that I read like 3 frickin' years ago that Tarrantino was working on a special DVD (and hopefully now blu ray) collection of Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2 called "The Whole Bloody Affair." Was this a complete figment of my imagination or has the project been shelved?

I think that you are just crazy pants.

there are issues, I am sure, regarding Kill Bill because Buena Vista owns the films seperately but Weinstein owns them together. It is strange in my opinion.

Could the joint ownership of the movies be holding up future releases? I am sure that Mickey Mouse as a lawyer already on it.

it's caused problems with a few things. I know the producers of the TV show ED stated that they wanted a dvd release but it was a joint production from NBC and Viacom and Viacom are now part of Paramount/CBS and neither company seems to know who is even allowed to do the release.

i have a copy of volume 1 that I bought a while back from Japan. its different from the US version in that the b&w scenes everyone keeps talking about are in color. its also a few minutes longer, though i couldn't tell you what was added without watching the 2 versions again. i don't think the copy i have is rare or anything so if you search around a little i'm sure you can find it. maybe yesasia?

I would only be interest in TWBA if the two films are totally re-edited (i.e., not Vol. 1 simply followed by Vol. 2). As the earlier poster pointed out, the pacing was completely different between 1 and 2, and I don't think it would play very well as is. It plays fine as two distinctly different films, but not as two halves of a whole (in my opinion). To make it really work, you'd have to intercut the two differently, "spreading out" the pace more evenly.

Are all of the sequences in color? Not just the fight with the Crazy 88, but the other portions like the flashbacks to the day at the chapel when Bill and the Deadly Vipers attempt to kill the Bride?

I love B&W used stylistically like that, so it makes me sad to hear they might have actually put out a version all in color.
