Default Mecum Car auctions in HD

Any other classic car nuts like myself watch these car auctions on HDT (Discovery). Its pretty awesome to see these cars in HD in all their pristine glory. I wish I could get the Speed Channel in HD to watch Barret Jackson auctions. For now I have to watch the Speed Channel in standard def (dangblammit) I was able to go a few years ago to the auction in Scottsdale... it was like watching monkeys in a zoo.. people were bidding crazy prices for some cars... some were really awesome looking others not so nice.

well heres a page to my car: http://community.carcrazycentral.com...x?UserID=10546
the pictures dont show it but to restore the paint and bodywork to pristine condition is gonna cost about twice what the car will be worth when its done. that aint gonna happen anytime soon unless by some miracle the car gets on overhaulin.

Why do I always get conned into watching them with my Dad???

Well, Saw the HD special tonight. Didn't see all of it, but my dad sat and watched for hours...my god. Just kidding. He and I are working on an 82' corvette. We also have two side projects: an 87' vette and my 04' Pontiac Grand Prix GT. Getting ready to drop a new G8 engine in it with a supercharger. Even now, I still love it when I pull up to a fellow college kid and smoke him while he plays his muddy bass in his not so fast, that he thinks is fast Honda Civic. What a shame...raising american kids on japanese canners...

in my opinion ricers have their purpose... good fuel economy, good handling, long lasting engines etc... I just cringe when someone puts a big batwing on the back, a fart can muffler, and big 20 inch spinners on a 15 yr old rusted out civic and think they are cool. a lot of the ricers could probably smoke my car at the drag strip but in the twisties id give em a good run for their money. ( no one thinks a 44 yr old car can actually handle but they do with a few mods) also bring the car to car show and guess which one gets looked at more. the way i look at it my lug nuts require more torque than most ricer engines put out. I should know I have an old crappy civic that refuses to die. I just keep it to keep miles off my truck.

+1 actually +100. Where I live it's all about the dubs...on some old rusted out used civic with the ugly sand blasted, paint peeling bat wing, with the fart can muffler. Oh can't forget about the clipped tweeters with that "good" sounding muddy sub.

Yes, they're good cars for the good reasons you posted...but I still smoke them, even with there "upgrades". Sure they get the head start, but there car doesn't torque at 5200rpms. There lucky if they torque at 4000rpms. I love the way a good running...muffler and everything, V6 engine sounds. I love the way some of the V4s sound. I.E. The 2004,2005,2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi's sound really nice to me. However, some muffler you picked up at autozone for 40dollars...need I say anymore. Of course, no need to mention how a V8 sounds
