Exclamation Why Was My Thread Locked?

There was nothing wrong with it? Nothing out of bounds or anything. It was in off topic and not out of hand. Please help me understand why it was locked?

Or is this thread going to vanish too and I will never know what happened?

Thats all fine and dandy but there are NUMEROUS threads that fall under that category. Heck, the entire off topic area does.

Question is, why was my thread specifically singled out? If it was that bad, why was it not locked from the get go? Why wait 10 hours?

Or is it because the "moderator" in question STILL has not grown up?

.....but insulting members, comparing hot chicks over and over again (especially with graphic pictures), what you ate today, animal cruelty, sex discussion of any nature, how long can you hold your breath, desserts that you like, political, racial and insulting threads/posts, etc.... are just a waste of space and will be removed. If you want to post something but are unsure that it may be offensive or controversial, then it probably is
now that was a mouthful

I too have noticed alot of threads that get locked latley even when not out of hand, while some have Odd subject matter/some not, nothing really out of hand.

It's a pot/kettle situation. I probably shouldn't have stepped in to this at all, but I have to wonder why you wouldn't just PM a mod with this question to begin with. Then you insult the mod that closed the thread and expect to be treated with respect? It's kind of mind-boggling.

I agree. I have noticed it as well. It's hard not to when almost every day you see threads getting locked that really haven't crossed any thresholds. It seems as if sometimes the mods lock a thread just because they decide a topic has been discussed enough...... which seems somewhat counterintuitive for a discussion forum

I'm not trying to rag the mods or be rude at all.... just stating my personal honest opinion... but also sometimes the modding here can be a little heavy handed as well. I think if a mod feels a need to call someone out on something publicly... within the public forums... they should use as much tact and congeniality as possible. If they want/need to do anything more than that..... it should be done via private messaging. I also think it would be polite... if when closing a thread... they took a moment to post a final message with a brief explanation as to why the thread has been closed.

After all... the members here are "customers." There are many other similar forums that one could choose to give their page hits to. I'm not at all suggesting that the mods need to take a "customer is always right" attitude.... as in many cases that would be utterly rediculous.... but that the some of the mods may need to remember that they are here to serve the "customers" who keep the forums alive.

This is a blu-ray related site, Thats the bottom line. The OT area is for something that doesnt fit but is useful talk, i.e DVDs or the 360 not whats the hottest chick or the best pie or cake.

This forum would thrive without 'customers' like this, Its a blu-ray forum and the ones you use it for that seldom surf the OT area. By definition a customer is , also client, buyer or purchaser is the buyer or user of the paid products of an individual or organization, mostly called the supplier or seller. This is typically through purchasing or renting goods or services. Being this is a FREE forum, you arent a customer and you have to adhere to its Terms of service. I didnt lock the thread or any of them in the OT area BTW but I am sure there was just cause

I agree. A simple this is why its being locked post would be nice. A reason that is not BS. This ninja lock and go with no response is stupid. Especially with that mod has PLENTY of time on their hands to respond.

Last but not least - if the OFF TOPIC is not off topic and is causing issues and or you can not have this thread, but can have that thread - I think that section should be removed. Get rid of it and save the bandwith, time and problems.
