Default contrast ratio

It was set in stone, I was ordering the 50" 85u for around $1450-1500 shipped online. Pushing my budget to the far end, I figured I may as well go with the 50", considering it is only about $200 more than the 46".

So I see today, best buy has the 46" 80u on sale for $999. Without any regard to screen size, can I get some solid opinions, tests, etc concerning the difference between the 20,000:1 contrast ratio of the 80u and the 30,000:1 contrast ratio of the 85u. I know several, "which panasonic do I get?" threads have are around, but I couldn't find soild information concerning the differences regarding the contrast ratios. I REALLY want to save 500 dollars and go with the 46" 80u, but if I'm going to be able to visually see the difference, I will hand over the extra $500. Any info would great, want to get this before it goes off sale!
