Default Why are Canadian imports so cheap?

Sin City MSRP is $20 USD?

ID4, Kill Bill 1 & 2, Terminator are all $10-15 right now on Amazon.ca.

Any catch to this? Had no idea BD's were so cheap on Amazon.ca!

One reason has to be that they are "bare-bone" releases. They have no extras on them whatsoever. Just the movie, and maybe scene selections. That's about it.

I have the 'Sin City' disc and if you are looking for just the movie of these (nothing else), they are fantastically priced.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Is this basically the difference between American and Canadian BD's? I never watch extras, so I think I should live in Canada (I live in Alaska... close enough).

No, at least not that I know of (concerning the difference). It's not a matter of Canadian BD's just not having the extras, but it is a studio thing (who puts out the disc). 'Sin City' was done by Alliance, and almost none of their discs have extras (from what I understand). But it certainly isn't the case across the board -- just these particular releases.

But as I said, for just the movie (if that's all you really are looking for) they are great buys. The PQ/AQ on the 'Sin City' disc is amazing. It'll have you drooling.

I plan on importing my Kill Bill and Freddy v. Jason discs from Canada.

Oh, and another is the really good conversion rate right now.

I am thinking of waiting. In the Movie forum.. someone posted an article about Tarantino wanting to release both movies on one big edition.

they are even cheaper when they hit your credit card
Dont let Amazon convert the currency though, let your card do it, you save more money that way

Hmmmmm - very tempting, I really liked Sin City.

1) So was it $16.99 CDN right now in US dollars - $10, you say?

2) Besides the other titles mentioned above (Freddy vs Jason and From Dusk Til Dawn), does anyone recommend any other amazon.ca imports?

Thanks. My curiosity has been piqued, so I'm going to ask a couple Amazon.ca questions in a new thread...

There's really nothing new there, though. He's been "sometime" for years, now.

Sometimes you just have to take your losses if you want to enjoy what you can in the meantime. I'd rather pay the 14$ for the movies now and watch them for the next year and a half or so, because it will be at least that long, IMO, and probably longer.

Obviously the exchange rate helps you guys, but it is really the different philosophies of the different studios. You buy a new for example echo bay< LG < Sony< fox. Alliance has decided not to be too greedy (maybe hoping that by releasing early and cheaply many will import their version and they will make the $). On the other hand I have bought some Canadian BD releases and they where not cheap
