Default Max Payne Reviews

Ok let me be the first. To me this was a disappointment. Very slow paced and for people who have no idea about the game will be confused as hell. Bad acting, lack of gun fights, only 3 to 5 shots of so-so bullet time. But thought it was better than Hitman. And Mila Kunis. Oh the chick from Quantum of Solace. 5to6/10

What does everybody else think?

Well as someone who played and beat both games, I consider myself to be an expert on Max Payne. And this movie was a disappointment. I like Mark Wahlberg as an actor in things like Fear, Four Brothers, etc. But he was not the right person to be cast as Max Payne first and foremost. Secondly, the writing was just no where near where it needed to be. The video game takes on a lot of complex characters and inter weaving storylines. I thought this film didn't capture all of that and just stuck to the single storyline about Max's family or wife in particular.

Never felt there was a straight storyline. It was all jumboed up. Was wondering if they're were ever going to talk about the drug

Honestly, I'm not surprised... It looked like it wasn't going to be good from the trailers...

he said it didn't look good from the trailers. I was thinking it'd be pretty good from the previews.

As has been said..Slow-paced, not enought action, just a few bullet-time scenes.. i have a few unanswered questions about Max's daughter..The story was all ??? i still dont even completly understand what the drug does, it never went into good detail on it, or on anything, was just lost in a slow moving movie, you get the basic revenge plot, but it's still confusing to where ya jus dont care...The action that was in it, sucked, c'mon, based on an awesome "action" game.. Hitman was a stealth game and I believe it had better action, the Udre's club scene was all around better than anything in this movie..I love the scene that ya see in the trailers tho, when he's yelling on his knee's as the building is being destroyed around him, nothing special about what exactly is goin on, cause i dont know ha, it just looked awesome..I went into this with high expectations for a great video game adaptation to finally be released, which is what i did with Hitman, and got disappointed, just like Hitman.. Im guessing Bioshock will be my next hope..

I have never played the games, but i enjoyed the movie. I would give it a 6 out of 10. It is not even close to the best movie of the year, but it is entertaining. It is a good popcorn flick. The story jumps around and the acting was not award worthy, but it was not terrible either.

This was a helluva good game. In fact, for single player only, it would rank in my top 10. I was pretty sure that its going to suck after seeing the PG-13 rating. I don't understand the studios mentality on toning down movies like this to hit a PG-13 rating. Max Payne is now old enough that pretty much everyone that played it, is now over 17+ anyways.

Maybe it'll be worth a rental.

The movie could have been better and could have used more bullet time and action scenes for what it's worth. But a great movie, with a great look and some fantastic shots. Wouldn't call it a disappointment... but I wasn't exactly impressed. I really liked the girl from Hitman though. She should be in more movies now.

at first i was like, they should of erased the first hour of the movie. however after the film was over i felt the slow beginning was necessary. it just built up for the final scenes. really like the movie for what it was i voted 10/10
