What films in your opinion merit the absolute best in the horror genre of the past decade and why?
28 Days Later - very original The Ring - scariest movie in my recent memory Saw - mind-bending and horrific and honorable mention goes out to Dawn of the Dead and 30 Days of Night. |

28 Days Later - Its one of the most realistic horror movie to come out imo, not in the sense of a virus that turns us into rage zombies but the fact that its virus...and a viral epidemic is very likely. The film delivers a great sense of hopelessness and despair.
Blair Witch Project - Shot wonderfully and the acting was superb, it’s very realistic and I think you have to put yourself in the characters shoes to get the "feel" of it. Because anyone in that situation would be terrified. [REC] - Shot the same style as Blair Witch with a 28 Days Later twist, it also gives a good feel of hopelessness, and the last 15 minutes is the only time I have had a *hands in front of face peeping through fingers* moment during a film. The Orphanage - Not sense Poltergeist have I seen a ghost film that was so creepy, the suspense and creep factor in this one is top notch. The only bad thing about it is...after you see it you really won’t want to watch it again ![]() Ju-On The original version of The Grudge...except the difference is this one does not suck. Ju-On is super creepy and will stay with you. Last edited by Crim122; 01-09-2009 at 08:10 PM. |

The Descent deserves a mention. One of the best horror films made IMO. The feeling of claustrophobia it gave me was unreal and that a movie gave me that feeling is amazing.
I will also say 28 Days Later OP mentioned. Devil's Backbone is also one of my favs. |

ok, well for you guys saying a movie isnt a Horror movie if it doesnt scare or creep you out is kind of a dumb explanation... if your going to rent it... where do you go... to the HORROR section... also... The Ring did nothing for me... i need to watch it again...
