Default You pick my laptop. Out of these 3 choices..

I know there is a big jump between them but what one would you choose of the 3.

From the top of the page going down it is tge quad core asus for $1299 ( the first one ) the dual core p8700 for $1199 ( 4th one down ) or the dual core p7450 $999 5th one down.

Just wondering which will be the best bang for the buck

All 3 asus laptops have the same gtx260m gpu. And is there much need for a quad? The cheapest one at 999 has a 7200 rpm hdd just like the quad. The quad just has 2 320 gb drives instead of one.

I really only looked at 3, but I know for me personally, I'd always buy the comp with the best parts that my budget would allow. hope that helps a little.

That's what I try to do to. But basically just wondering if I'll need the $1300 one if the $1000 one will do. Basically just want to know the dif between the faster hdd and the quad vs dual CPU

I'd get the quad core just for E-SATA. That's just me though.

You'd be fine with any one of them. Choose the one that fits your budget.

Why does everyone like quad so much? Is it that much better?? E-sata?? Lol don't even know what that is. Yes I am that computer illiterate

any o them can be upgraded to 8 gb of ram for $60. Would that help anything on the lower priced ones? I'm actually for sure going to check them out at best buy tomorrow. So I just want as much of you Guys input as I Can get

Quad means instead of a single core: example a pentium 4 core there are multiple cores integrated onto that chip or CMP, Quad would be 4 dual would be two As we get farther down the road with computer advancement more and more companies will utilize the extra processing power the multiple cores allow. So thats why its better to have more cores. But on most things you wouldn't notice a difference or would notice a little bit. But having the horsepower for a couple years down the road would not be a bad idea.

Thats why I said if its in your budget I wouldn't skimp, you don't want to in 2 years be left behind if multiprocessing explodes and your system starts bogging you down.

gotcha thank you

now how about hdd speed. I see the cheapest one has a 320 gb 7200 rpm, the one for $1199 is a 500 gb 5400 rpm , then the quad adds another 320 from the cheaper one for a 7200 rpm 640 gb.

So why the slower hdd in the middle one that costs 200 more than the cheap one. Sorry of that got confusing

SSD is the best but almost all 7200 rpm hds are much better then 5400

Heres a video so you get an Idea about ssd as of now its really cream of the crop 7200 should be fine till your next purchase.

Welll as If there wasn't enough confusion on my side, I go up to best buy to check everything out, and tell them I didn't want the laptop I ordered. Instead of making me choose or wait to pick another laptop, they just gave me full instore credit. Of $1100. Hmmmmm

I was "supposed " to have computer credit only. But the chick just refunded me on a gift card. So now I could get anything I want. Maybe A. $600 laptop and a few games or blu rays?? Hmmm

So if you guys were looking at instore credit of $1100 that had to be for q laptop then you were told or received a gift card for $1100 would yoasher a cheap computer then go on a shopping spree or get the $1200 laptop you were looking at?

The cheapest MacBook I liked was 1600. The one for 1k has such a small screen and such little hardware. Idk. If I HD the $$ itwould be the mac for 2500.
