Default 7.1 What speakers are the most important

I'm updating my Home audio system. I've picked out my new AV Receiver Pio SC 05. I'm going to go with BP 7006 fronts with a built in SUB, for my rear surronds I'm thinking of either the BP2X, StudioMonitor 350/450, or BPX. C/L/R2300 for my center.

What is the best option for the other 2 side speakers? The guy at BestBuy said that the side speaker aren't that important because they just carry the sound before the rears.

What would you go with for the sides?

What would be the best for my rear surronds? I'm thinking the BP2X's.

The guy at Best Buy has it backwards. A 5.1 system uses L/C/R, two surrounds on the sides, and a subwoofer. 7.1 adds the two rear speakers.

The L/C/R speakers are the most important, of course. You may want to use a bipole or dipole type speaker for the surrounds, something like the BPX. Rears should be direct radiating. It's a good idea to get speakers from the same family so that they timber match. But, that's less important with the surrounds and rears than with fronts.

You could go with 2 sets of BP2X's if you like the sound. If I was going 7.1, that's what I'd do.

Make sure you take pics of your completed setup so that I can be highly jealous. Oh, and I'd personally still recommend a separate subwoofer to really add punch to your setup. Those 8" subs are definitely nice for filling in the low end, but I wouldn't use them as my only LFE source.

I'm sure BigDaddy would agree, since he's running supertowers and 4(!) subs.

What Sub would you reccommend. With the 7006's I have decent base. They're both 300 watts. I was thinking one of the super cubes. I didnt know if the Super cube II would be too much bass for my room. It's only 17 x 14

If you properly calibrate your set-up and sub, it should not be too much for a room, IMO. Sure, you might not be using it to it's full capacity, but it can still provide the right amount of bass for the room without sacrificing your ear drums. And as far as a sub, is there a budget?

Before pulling the trigger on a SuperCube, I would look at the SVS subwoofers. They are usually larger, but they will offer a far superior sound for a lot less that a Supercube. www.svsound.com

...and the cylinder ones actually have a rather small footprint within the room.
