No one asked for it, but here we have the 9th in a series of random-year polls honoring the rich history of World Cinema, and finding the forum's favorite non-English language films of all-time.
The endeavor here is to choose films with absolutely none, or a very bare minimum, of English being spoken. That means not including most British, Australian, English Canadian or New Zealand films, unfortunately. In any case, any feedback or discussion about these World Cinema titles would still be greatly appreciated. History has shown 1980 to be a solid international year - Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears was the Academy's choice, while Kagemusha shared the Cannes prize with 1979's All That Jazz. So it's up to us to settle this for eternity. Cheers, and thanks for participating! |
