Hey guys,
I just bought another PS3 so me and my son can play COD4 and other games onlinen together. My 60 gig is hardwired to the router (belking54) AND THE NEW ONE (160 gig) is connected via wifi. We can get online but sometimes we have touble staying in the same room (COD4) or join the same room of another host. My router is I think just the basic and during the connection settings for the new PS3 it said due to the router some games will vary. I plan on buying a new router and was wondering for anyone out their that plays 2 ps3 at home online which is the best router to get to eliminate this problem. Thanks!!!! ![]() |

Instead of buying a new router, spend the same, if not less, amount of money on a long network cable to run from the new PS3 to the router. That's probably all it is. Signal degredation due to the WiFi. Or, switch the connection as you probably have the closer PS3 to the router wired and the furthest one WiFi-ed.

Unfortunately Petra probably has the best solution. I've had a wireless N router both 10 feet away and about 50 feet away from my wireless PS3 and the connection was not great in either case. Now that I have AT&T U-verse my internet connection is in my living room so now all my consoles (minus the Wii) are wired in and working better than ever.

Is it possible that some games won't let you play on the same server because you are both coming from the same IP address? I don't know if this is the case but there have been some computer games that block you from being on the same server, because of a possible unfair advantage I think?
I don't know if that is the case or not, just throwing out the possibility. |

I got one and it improved the signal quality tremendously. But the best solution is what Petra said - wire both PS3s to your router for a more reliable and faster connection. |

![]() See a router would have a range of ip addresses to give out.. just make sure the ip addresses are not the same or the same as the router / and or / modem Hope that helps. |

The router assigns different IPs to anything that is connected locally, but as far as anything trying to connect from outside your house, it will only see one IP address. You can upgrade to business internet and get multiple IP addresses, but that gets complicated.

I had a similar problem when I got my second PS3 hooked up in my home.... I just went the the linksys site and downloaded the latest firmware for my router model and then reset the modem & router and I have not had a problem since. |

I had it all the time in COD4 and 5 until I assigned ip addresses to each ps3 (i.e. .20 and .21 so any other connections don't get in the way) . . . dmz'd one and opened the ports suggested (google the problem and you will see the ones you need) on the other ip . . . still not perfect but it is 90% better than it used to be . . .

Thanks BlackMamba, My personal opinion is that DQ8 is the best RPG and that it needs to be continued on the PS3.
What I did was call Linksys Support number and they walked me through the whole process. The router that I had previously was an older model. But everyone's advice really helped along the way. ![]() |
