I am beginning to get really annoyed with the difference between American and UK Blu-Rays.
Face it, America gets everything better than we do. In the '3D SuperPlay' Blu-Ray's, American Blu-Rays have the 3D Blu-Ray, 2D Blu-Ray, Digital Copy AND DVD wheras, we don't get a DVD, disappointing. And, also in the Fantasia / Fantasia 2000 Double Pack, the American Blu-Ray has a Blu-Ray AND DVD copy of each film, whereas, we only get the Blu-Ray. It's the same in most Blu-Ray Double Packs & Trilogies, I just don't get why we don't get the same! |

The only thing that annoys me is when studios release a film on Blu-ray in the US, and then even if its the same distributor in the UK they dont release it here aswell around the same time.
Fox are mainly the ones im talking about here. I cant say DVD's copies being included or not bothers me though. In fact nowadays I'd rather their not be a DVD copy or we'll get the crappy 'DOUBLE PLAY' banners messing up the entire front of the case. |

Apart from bonus DVD's and special features sometimes I cant think of anything else that makes the US releases better than our UK ones. I just wish the studios would release more catalog titles in the UK that are already out in the US. Universal seem to be the best for releasing catalog titles, as whenever they announce a US release we seem to also get it around the same time as them. Universal seem to release a good amount of catalog releases aswell. |

I agree, it works both ways. Plenty of region free releases on both sides, the mentioned US release of Fantasia/2000 for example. You just gotta do your research and decide depending on what's important to you. 3D, DVD and digital copies add $0 value to me.

Sometimes things are missing dues to usage rights, they may only have the rights to distribute the 'documentary' for US/Canada, and paying for the rights else where just raises the cost.
I rather just have a BD Without dvds/digital copy.. It's a waste of earths resources for me. |

I don't give a crap about shitty dvd's, why do I want a DVD in the same package as a Blu? It's okay for those still using DVD and just buying the package for future use but for me I just want the Blu only.
What really annoys me though is when we get done over by the content (usually something missing or f'ked up). Planet of the Apes collection is a prime example... Look it up and you'll find how bad it is compared to the US release. |

I difference that I have been spotting is that many American Blu-rays come with a Digital Copy. As in, they do not include a DVD version, only a Digital Copy.
An example of this is the upcoming American release of Let Me In, which includes a Digital Copy, and the UK is only a single Blu-ray release. Others include Scott Pilgrim, The Other Guys and the Back to the Future trilogy. Whereas I have little concern over Digital Copies (and the DVD discs), I do see it as an added bonus that the UK misses out on. I also agree that it is annoying when the US has a better version (as in quality wise and supplement wise) than the UK, and vice versa. |
