Since these are being cleared out would i still be able to find a pair in 2-3 months when i do my taxes?I would love to get these but can only do it after my tax refund.

I wish I had a crystal ball to gaze into and give you a definite answer. I will say this though my son recently bought the last pair at the Frys Electronics where he lives and paid $150 for the pair. Best Buy had them too but at regular price LOL.

I would say if you don't get them now or very soon you might be out of luck waiting a couple of months. IF I were you, I'd use a credit card and buy them now while I can. Any interest on $150 in 2 or 3 months is peanuts compared to their retail cost. Once you get your tax refund, pay it off and avoid any further interest charges. It's that simple.

I listened to the polk 50's about a half hour before I bought my Sony speakers, they sounded identical to me. I got my sonys for $129/pair and the Polks were $150 each.... I didn't see the need to spend the extra for the same thing. IMO.

Honestly, after perusing ebay... these things aren't going to be available in 3 months. Polk no longer sells them there. There are enough comparable speakers available though that I don't think I'd recommend breaking the bank just to get ahold of a pair.

so you would recommend Sony over Polk? I keep hearing nothing but good reviews about Polk and how good they sound for the price. I see you have the same tv and receiver as me, just I'm using Onkyo speakers as of right now but I've set my heart on a Polk CS2 center speaker and then Polk R50's for the front and then Polk Monitor 30s for the surrounds. There are too many options out there

this is what i had
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Jb2wmqh...o-HT-S770.html
just now I replaced the receiver, but still same speakers...I kind of want to keep my sub because it sounds soo good but can I also get one of those for around $100 that would sound better?

I hate to come across as some sort of polk fanboy but the differnce with the monitors and the sony's really is night and day.I have owned both and while the sony's are good speakers for the price the imaging ,sound stage and clarity on the Polks are a step up.That said if you cannot find the polks when you want them and the tsi series is still priced a little to high pick the Sony's the are good speakers just not as good as the polks imho.

You've got really good Polk speakers though. *edit* Just saw you said Monitors. Nevermind!

Honestly, most folks around here are going to recommend the Polk over the Sony. If you listen to them though and like them... then that's all that matters. I am very satisfied with my Polk Monitors, and that's all that matters in the end.

Give 'em both a listen and go with what you like. If you end up feeling that they're both the same/comparable, go with what looks better and/or is cheaper.

The Polks I want are discontinued and I have no idea how I would be able to listen to them.

The cheapest I could find them are here...

I love Sony products but I've never been too big of a fan of their speakers and that is why I was shocked when someone said that they were comparable to Polk Audio. The only speakers that I have really enjoyed from Sony was my competition sub I had in my truck and then the home theatre sub my friend and I got at BB.

Anyways, are those good prices on those speakers? I know the colors are off but they can always be repainted. Also will they compliment each other well? This is my first step into the world of home theater audio, I had the Onkyo system but that was just a basic setup. I believe I'm ready to take it to the next step and with my budget those Polks seem to be looking pretty good. I'm all about clarity, I'm not worried about cranking them up and blowing out my windows. Just want something that makes me feel like I'm there.

You may be able to find the CS2 a little cheaper, but that's less than what I paid for it like a few months ago. Everything else price-wise looks solid. Repainting the cabinet anything other than black won't be easy- keep in mind this is MDF with a veneer I believe.

I was in the sam postion, I ended up purchasing the Sony SSF 6000 and I love them. Beleove it or not they rival much more expensive setups. I am very happy with them.

Heh. I was wrong. I figured J&R would beat Crutchfield's price (usually they do) and that's the cheapest I see it. Amazon also has it for that price, so one may come out cheaper on the shipping end.

DC, if your heart is set on Polks, then anything else is going to be difficult to sell to yourself. Personally, Sony makes nice speakers, I suggest at least listening to them yourself.

I haven't been in the HT game for a long time, and I don't know what other lines of speakers Sony used to sell, or if they have been the same for 10yrs. All I know is that they sound great and they are inexpensive. When I compared them to the Polks I thought I was going to get, I told my wife, I think I am gonna get the Sony's and she was like, I don't care how much they are, I just don't want you going back and forth pick a pair and make it the ones you really want. I bought the Sony's and I am happy. My dad has some B&W's and when he first came over he commented that, I thought Sony made $h!tty speakers, those sound pretty good. So they can't be all that bad.

If you listen to them and find that their isn't that much of a difference or none, you could save some money and put it towards more BD's.

$99 is a great deal on those Monitors, I bought my F5000's for $129/pair on BF in 2007 from BB. I think amazon has the Sony's for about $150/pair. I got the rears B1000's for $29/pair(amazon $49), the sub for $99(not sure $150?) and the Center CN5000 $79(Amazon $99). When I was shopping for the Polk 50's they were $159.99 each. Add it all up, I got the whole setup for about what the Polks fronts were gonna cost. You can see why it was an easy choice for ME. You might save $140, not a lot when talking speakers, but its money. whatever.

DUDE, I am not trying to talk you into something you will regret, not here to do that. The prices you are getting are rather phenominal, so if you are intent on getting them, then by all means. YOU have to live with whatever you get, so I want YOU to be happy too. I just wanted to give you an alternative. IF you are cosidering the sony's then GO LISTEN to them and make sure YOU will be happy, I don't want you to hate me for suggesting them.

I'm going to go with the Monitor 50s instead of the R50s, guess I'll hold off on the CS2 until it goes on sale again.

edit: just got paid today and went ahead and ordered the Monitor 50s and the CS2 from New Egg...I think I'm going to hold off on the rear speakers until I've done more research on those
