Default Battle of the Bulge (1965)...

Hey guys,

I was wondering what the quality of Battle of the Bulge (1965) is like as I am thinking of importing it from the US and it will be a blind buy as well but I know I will like it as it is well a war film and I have loved all I have watched so far

Oh and are there any others I should think of getting, I have the following already:
  1. A Bridge Too far (1977)
  2. Battle of Britain (1969)
  3. Der Untergang (2004) ~ I sometimes regret buying due to it being Theatrical Version only
  4. Die Fälscher (2007)
  5. The Eagle Has Landed (1976)

Thanks for any info in advance,

Northy

I haven't seen the others you listed, but Battle Of The Bulge looked good to me. I'd recommend a blind buy.

I can only comment on the HD-DVD....really quite good. Hopefully the BD is as good.

So I take it is a worth it then

Any other suggestions for what to get as well (might as well make the import worth it).

I think it was worth it...but I love the genre.

I just bought the movie "Saints and Soldiers", which I thought was fairly good. I had to get it from Amazon UK...but I got it used (looked brand new) shipped to the U.S for $15. Not a bad WWII flick..and a true story.

Of course you cant go wrong w/ Band of Brothers.

But if you are talking old war movies...Battle of the Bulge is the only one I really have. Oh wait....I just remembered...I have The Longest Day, which I think is great. And looks incredible. Just my 2 cents though.

The Longest Day, I remember that one from a few months back when it aired on TV and loved it, on my list now

Yes I prefer Classic WW2 films although any good war films that anyone can recommend would be good

As a movie it's OK and the PQ is pretty good. The acting is quite good as you could expect from the likes of Henry Fonda.

Military historians however will weep. The German tanks are American M60s with a big cross on. The railway scene looks like it was shot in New Mexico. I dare not continue.

Some of the movie is historically OK however... like the German fuel shortages.

I have order it along with The Dirty Dozen, and The Sand Pebbles.

I would get Patton but I don't like double dipping (same with Band of Brothers to which the DVD costs £30 more when I got it)

I think it looked great when I watched it. The BD also has a very entertaining audio commentary.

I love the genre and on BD I also own "The Longest Day," "Patton" and "Dirty Dozen." Now, if they can just release "Where Eagles Dare" and "Guns of Navarone" on BD
