Default LG 60PG60 or . . .

I'm probably going to be getting a new TV in the very near future. I was pretty set on the 65" Mitsubishi DLP, but I found the LG 60PG60 for about the same price and was wondering if anybody had any opinions on the set. I'd really like the larger size of the DLP, but plasma has always been attractive to me. Anyway . . . how's the quality of this set? What would you choose? As far as LG in general, what are your opinions? I haven't had any experience with them except for my refrigerator, which I haven't even had for that long.

Also, does this have any sort of anti-glare in place? I didn't see anything about it. I've got a decent amount of light coming into my room, so it may be an issue.

LG makes terrible televisions, plasmas especially! Unless you are getting it ISF calibrated I'd look at Panasonic or Samsung plasmas (in that order)

every LG LCD I've seen has one of the following problems, literally every single one I've seen!

1.Black crush
2.Color banding
3.Horrible motion interpolation
4.Backlight bleeding
5.Clouding

As far as the plasmas, they tend to lack black detail (black crush) as well as being oversaturated on color... I don't have a lot of hands-on experience but what experience I do have has left a bad taste in my mouth... I'm sure someone else can chime in with personal experience

I have a lower end LG plasma, the 50PG20 and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I haven't experienced any of those issues you mention. Perhaps you've only been exposed to some poorly setup screems

I haven't gotten it ISF calibrated, but I did use the DVE blu-ray calibration disc and got some good results. I find the screen to be absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine how much better the 60" would be (and the pg60 model for that matter ). You can see a couple screen shots in my HT gallery to get an idea of how it looks.

Anyway, most people here love Panasonics so you'll probably get plenty of recommendations for those. But as far as LG is concerned, I feel its a very nice TV that gets a little less attention then they probably deserve.

I recommend them.

EDIT I just saw you said LG LCD's . Either way I stand by my assessment of their plasma screens.

Default lg

I have two LG Lcd's and have no problem with them. They rock. I am not joking at all my parents have 6 LG televisions between their two homes. Some plasmas, some lcds. They have no problem with them at all. Mine and theirs, have excellent pictures. Anyone who says they are crap are not telling you the truth, or actually got a dud. Which every tv manufacturer produces duds. If you get one, return it and replace it with another one.

I've owned 2 seperate LG TV's one LCD and one Plasma and I had likes and dislikes with both. The LCD had backlight bleeding and clouding but otherwise was beautiful once calibrated.

The plasma was alright but not nearly as nice as the LCD...It had the red sparkle issue that's common among LG plasmas and it did crush blacks if you wanted a good black level.

I now currently own a Samsung 450 plasma and LOVE it...good blacks, wondeful color, very little IR and I bought it for a great price. I would look at the Sammy or Panasonic lines first but in the end I think LG makes a solid TV on the LCD side but the plasma line isn't where the other options are.

I agree with this ^ statement but STILL wouldnt consder buying an LG when there are KNOWN models out there that have been proven (to my eyes and others even on this forum) can vouch to have a better picture. No way I would consider an LG before a Sammy 650,750,850,950 series or Pannys 800/850u series. Purchases should be more than just a size thing, need to consider the technology inside the models your considering also.
